I was advised by several people to update some drivers from stock when my machine arrived. I take it the touchpad driver is one of those. Could someone give me a link to an updated driver for the NP8258? I've checked the sagernotebook.com driver page and I'm assuming I have that already since that was released a month ago. Also, I've updated the nVidia driver to the latest beta. Is there anything else I ought to consider updating?

did your lappy come with a pre loaded operating system.
if it did updating the video driver might not of been a good idea. reason for this is your lappy would have been fully tested on burn in with the best drivers available and the nvidia driver could of been an OEM release that isnt available to the public but only for pre installs.
mine was a oem release and i held off updating it for about 6 months until there was a game specific driver released. i updated the same way i have dont for the last 7 years and it caused no end of problems.
only way to get out of this was a system retore.

if youve got the driver page from sager then normally on new releases they are upto date.
you could also try Clevo themselves to see if they have any newer drivers but they dont seem to update their page that often CLEVO - Download

Well, no. I installed the OS myself and then the stock drivers from the Sager drivers DVD. I'm wondering if the ones on the site are still newer (they're dated 04-Apr). Also, most people did mention using an updated touchpad driver since this one (and I concur) is noticeably glitchy. However, I never got a link to said driver.

    ahh thats ok then.
only going by pre installed OS and drivers by the supplier.
the touchpad should be on the supplied disc but when i get a chance i will try and hunt it down for you but im guessing it will be the same version.
all i know is drivers have to be installed in a certain order or they can conflict.

so what the lappy like as ive not seen that model before.

Slightly offtopic... but on my WA50SJQ, it came with 332.60.. but I updated to 337.50 beta since I rather use the official NVIDIA drivers.

Everything currently works fine, so is it safe to just continue updating whenever a new driver comes out via NVIDIA?

I can safely say if you have a sager machine, go for drivers from Sager's website. Even if they look a bit old, the driver discs are usually not updated very often unless there is a new OS and you have to find them manually. It's a bit hard to find them sometimes, and it seems to be true for just about every clevo machine there is. I took to storing all my drivers for each OS on my external hard drive with my old D900F so I didn't have to go hunting the bottom barrel denizen dwelling troll websites of the internet every time I did a reinstall of my OS for any reason. I stopped using my driver disc long ago too; I just had newer updates on-hand.

As for your touchpad driver, try the one from Sager's website first. It likely is newer than the one you actually have and it may work. If it is not, try PMing one of the people who listed to you that you should update it (as they have) and ask them for a link to the driver.

As for the rest of the drivers, once you make a run-through of chipset/wireless/etc etc you're usually set; often you'll get any better updates through Windows Update (I know for sure intel wireless card updates come through here, as well as GPU driver updates if your current one is old enough). Most of what you need'll be given with windows update though, so don't worry too much. If you ever have a problem with a specific driver, try to reinstall them with the latest Sager driver (or, if none available, the latest Clevo driver) and see if that fixes it. If it does not, then make a thread or two about it here and hope it doesn't resort to a reinstall of your OS or faulty hardware.

When I got my 8258-S, the only drivers I had to update were the bluetooth and the intel AC wifi drivers.

The Geforce drivers updated normally through experience.

That was all I had to update.

Thanks guys :) I was only wondering if there was a download page for the touchpad drivers from the vendor since Google didn't yield any such results.

Usually, yes. Even in a scenario where the updated driver does not work, you can always roll back. Drivers direct from NVidia are safe and generally preferred for performance.

Yeah they're on the Sager download page. The ones there I've had feedback that they work fine so I'd stick with those if you're having trouble with the ones on the disk. Oddly enough different people with identical machines find one version may work better for them vs the other person. If you have trouble just try another version basically.
