I've been using the base Intel Centrino 6300 driver from Sager since mid-2012, but at this point I am wondering if maybe I'd get some better performance and features from one of the newer Intel-direct drivers. Is this safe and has anyone tried it?
And while I am here, has anyone tried the newest Intel iGPU drivers with their P1*0EMs? The last time I tried using an Intel direct iGPU driver a bunch of programs stopped working properly. I'm using AMDs 13.12 WHQL with my 7970M, and Clevo's late 2012 iGPU driver for Intel 3rd generations CPUs.

It's safe. A performance boost is hearsay, though. The same can be said about updating the driver on the iGPU, although you're actually more likely to gain some sort of performance enhancement from updating that.

If you do see any performance hit with the Intel drivers (which as Prostar mentioned you shouldn't) you can always reinstall the Sager ones.

With the igp leave it unless you have issues.

I upgraded the Wifi driver and it is working fine.
Are there any real benefits for upgrading to a newer iGPU driver? -

Not usually unless you need a feature since you don't care about igp 3d performance.
Updating Intel Centrino WiFi driver directly from Intel - is it ok?
