Hi, is it possible to upgrade a P771DM-G Clevo with a P775DM2-G Mainboard or a similar to get the newer Clevo GTX 1080 or RTX Cards working? Or anyone who had tried this before?

Certainly with the p870 series such an upgrade had various factors hurting this. Partly the shape of the GPU is different so the chassis is a bit different iirc on this model.
-
So I need a Bottom case from the p775 too?
-
This is not possible.
First you need 775DM3 MB, which have a different layout from P750/770DM MB, esecially in MXM connector placement, ports placement and CPU heatsink screws placing.
You will need a P775DM3 case, P775DM3 palmrest, P775DM3 bottom covers, P775DM3 12V Fans (Cause in P770DM fans are 5V, and in P775DM3 = 12V), P775DM3 heatsink for CPU And GPU. You just need all parts from P775DM3, so it's better to buy P775DM3 instead of build P775DM3thewizzard1 likes this. -

You'll be better off using the mod to get a higher gen CPU and using a standard MXM card.

An I9-9900T ES is already installed. I‘m thinking of buying maybe a P4200.

I take it the ES is unlocked? What's its clock/frequency curve like?
-
It could be that it’s unlocked. Didn’t test it yet. Basic frequency is 1,7Ghz

Yeah they are the low wattage version so that's pretty normal for the wattage.

@Meaker maybe you can help me. Now I have a black screen on my P771DM-G. There is a Dsanke Mod bios inside. I tried several 980m in my device. After that the black screen comes on. After many times of power drain I now get a picture via HDMI. I checked the screen in a GT72. It’s working fine there. Could that be that the Dsanke Bios got faulty? Also when I saved and exit the BIOS before the black screen comes on it takes 10-15 seconds until it restarts.
Maybe I have to flash the Bios again directly on the Chip with my programmer?
Update: so now I got a pic via HDMI back.Last edited: Sep 17, 2021 -

No idea on Dsanke bios, I've never run it. What you describe usually sounds like a vbios issue. What do the cards look like?
-
It’s a Clevo card.
-

Might be the GOP, you may need an older vbios. What's your current version?
-
Current version is
84.04.88.00.1F -

Is that on a 980M?
-
Yes
-
So I tried another VBios with no luck. Is it possible that the Display cable is faulty?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Ah then GOP wont have an impact. It's possible the cable/connectors could have an issue. Double check the back of the LCD itself.
-
I checked both connections, at the back of the LCD and on the mainboard. The connection seems to be ok.
-
@Meaker Do you know which cards are working in my P771DM-G? Eurocom listed also a K3000m/K3100m. So I want to buy a low budget card to see if it’s the 980m which is faulty.

Yes there are some quadro cards that will work too, exactly which ones I don't know but those k series look like good bets.
-
I could get an M3000m for about 140 Dollars. There is an MSI VBios flashed. I don’t think there is out a Clevo VBios?

No clevo vbios I am aware of. HP cards tend to work well.

Thank you
Upgrade P771DM-G to P775DM2-G ???
