    Upgrade P870TM-GS to SLI

    I have an XMG Zenith 17(Clevo P870TM-GS) with I7-8700 and a single GTX 1080. I want to upgrade to I9-9900k and GTX 1080 SLI. The Vapor chamber Heatsink is not available anymore or too expensive. Can I also take two Heatsinks from P870DM2/3? And where to buy the SLI cable?

    There are individual 1070 heatsinks though each heatsink is a bit different in shape so you need the specific ones.

    Are you sure you want to bother with SLI at this point though?

    Because Nvidia no longer supports it, all the games that most need it (modern titles) do not get anything from SLI.

    Extremely diminishing returns on SLI.

    As much as going to the very top is fun, the i9 is thermally overkill, and 1080 SLI is only marginally better than a single 1080, and is also extremely loud and will require the adapter teamer and 2x 330w power bricks, which isn't fun. You're much better off with a 2070 / 2080 if you decide to upgrade anything, if you can snag one of those, and a i7-9700F or FK.

    I9-9900k at Stock and delid works very well in those machines.

    Games are not supporting it because this generation only the 3090 supported any kind of SLI and not even the explicit version where the nvidia drivers are handling the split, only implicit and no one bothers to code for that.

    So an Upgrade to RTX 2070/2080 will work out of the Box? I have only to mod the Heatsink and the driver?

    You will need a dsanke or Prema bios but otherwise yes.

    You need later GPU support too. The p870 series does not support them on stock firmware.

    Now my 2070 has arrived. I tried with stock bios. In UEFI Mode I can go in Windows without installed Driver. After driver installation Black screen. I want to flash the DSanke Bios. But which Bios do I need for my XMG Zenith 17(P870TM-G) position 21,22 or 23. Look at the pic.

    Already installed DSanke Bios No. 23. works. But also couldn‘t get the 2070 to work. I will try to sell it here. Maybe someone can get it to work.
