    Hey,

One of the reasons I purchased a Clevo last year was because of the ability to upgrade parts or even reuse parts on a new barebone.
The only problem seem to be finding those parts. I see a few things available at Eurocom, but the video cards are just extremely overpriced.

Is there a list somewhere with places to purchase Clevo parts? That would be pretty nice to have.

What prices have you seen? A lot of people think that mobile GPUs are "overpriced" when they see normal prices for the for the first time ;)
Mobile GPUs cost several times more than equivalent desktop ones. Price you pay for miniaturization.
There are couple of reputable eBay shops for them.

More than just a video card, I was looking for sites that offer upgrade parts.

And yes, parts seem a bit overpriced at Eurocom.

A Geforce 680M alone costs $890, while a Sager laptop from XoticPC that comes with that video card costs $1600. So I feel like all the rest of the laptop costs about $700?

Do you mind posting some good ebay stores?

We sell basically any part for any 2011 - Current model including GPU's, just shoot us an email or a PM. We don't charge nasty high prices for GPU's lol.

you could keep an eye on the market place NBR Marketplace but i cant see a 680 if thats what your after being put on there any time soon.

which laptop have you got as if its the 680 your after it wont fit in all clevo's. the more info on spec we have will help others point you in some sort of direction.
also have you contacted your supplier as they may be able to offer an upgrade service which would work out cheaper.

All other parts besides the GPU are fairly easy to find, just check your regular computer component sites, or email your original reseller for some pricing.

I think I'm not being really clear with my question. I was looking for prices of upgrade parts for Clevo laptops, just for browsing, but I found that almost no website offer just parts.

When I want to see parts for my desktop I go online and browse for them. It would be nice to get the same for Clevo parts.

I know that RJtech has a lot of spare parts for Clevo laptops but I have never ordered from them so I can not comment on their quality as a company.

it's not like that for notebooks. There aren't really sites that cater to the mobile upgraders.. If you want some help doing some of the leg work, post here with what you have, and what you were looking for. plenty of people have offered to scout out prices or help in deciding on upgrades  Also, it's not like we'll make you buy anything we find ;) most of the people here are here to help!

As mentioned, RJ Tech has a page for browsing parts though.

When you go online and browse for desktop parts, where do you go? Do you go to the manufacturers of the desktop website and look for part prices or do you go to places like newegg, tigerdirect, amazon etc. My point is thats the same thing you do for notebook. There really aren't "Clevo" specific parts unless you're looking for parts of the chassis. The internal components like CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD, GPU (when upgradable) are not brand specific, if you want to upgrade the CPU you look for the CPU you want to upgrade to, just like you would search for a desktop CPU.

Umm, GPUs are brand-specific. They are sometimes interchangeable, but not always.

Sager/Clevo uses a standard MXM 3.0 type B video card but not a specific brand. You may have problems installing another brands GPU into it a Sager though. Not all Sagers support upgrading the video card hence the "(when upgradable)"

It's mostly the MSI machines that tend to be the most agnostic when it comes to brand but they are locked into one vendor (the one they shipped with) due to enduro and optimus.

MXM fully guarantees electrical compatibility, but not software compatibility, and for card working 100% you need both. Most problems stem from fact that almost every brand has *some level* of specifics in the VBIOS/SBIOS/ACPI interactions, which, when not working fully, may result in non very obvious, but still annoying issues (e.g. power saving not working correctly, wrong adaptive clock control, various problems with backlight, problems with power saving/sleep states, problems with multi-monitor outputs).
Clevo machines use "Clevo" video cards, most obvious specific part is VBIOS tailored for their EC/SBIOS. Using other brand card (like Dell) may work sometimes, but its not guaranteed perfectly. Even Clevo cards and chassis between different generations often are not perfectly compatible.

I have the Clevo P170EM laptop and bought an upgraded part from Mythlogic. They quoted me a fair price and even threw in a tube of premium paste. Customers service was great and the part arrived when promised. I did not even buy the laptop from them and they still took care of me.
