I want to upgrade the processor in my Alienware Aurora m7700 laptop.
It is the Clevo D900K model. I orderred it with an AMD 64 3500 and want
to upgrade the processor to an FX-60. Has anyone done this upgrade?
If so how difficult was it? Thanks

It's possible and it can be done; I'll move this thread to the Clevo forum where you're more likely to get an answer. :)

its very easy to upgrade your Socket 939 CPU in this notebook.

I have done it on many D900K's. Pretty much exactly like you would in a desktop.

Cool. Is the processor fairly easy to get to? I know where its location is but I havent tried to open it up to get to it. Ive changed out many desktop processors is there anything I should expect to be different or is the harder part just getting to it. Also Do you know if I will need to upgrade the Bios or do anything with the OS? Thanks for all your help guys.

you should not need to update the BIOS.

The CPU heatsink has 4 screws holding it down, remove that (and the temp sensor cable carefully) and then you should see the CPU.

It should be a basic CPU socket 939, use the lever to unlock the CPU, swap CPUs, then close the lever (exactly like desktop motherboards).

Then spread a thin layer of thermal compound (like Arctic Silver) on the CPU, and place the heatsink back on it, secure it down with the screws and thats it.
