Is it possible to put in the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9100 processor in the NP8662? Manually? And is it worth it? Around 200-250 USD. I am also planning to find a GTX 280m to replace the GPU.

Also are there any other upgradable things I can do cheaper than XoticPC?

i dont think the 280 will go as it will cause too much heat. 260 will though.

True, since I read about heat problems with the HDD. It is possible to replace the ram in the NP8662 right?

Edit:And does it have to be a specific type of RAM card or any I can could buy?

The heat has actually been managable in most cases and is shown to work fine, even with a Quad-core CPU. Playing on battery is the real kellier though. Too little juice to operate the 280M.

Well, which CPU do you currently have? if it's a P9700 I wouldn't do anything, as that seems like good enough, but if you have a P8700 then go ahead and replace it, then sell the P8700 here. Also, if you are planning on cramming a GTX 280 into it, keep in mind that it might need more maintenance like undervolting, and that you might run into some power problems, especially under battery.
