I have a clevo 775dm1-g running a i5-6500 and was in the process to upgrade to 7700k. Unfortunately after installing the processor in my laptop i was not able to boot. My laptop is from Azom and have updated my bios which was provided by them which added support for 7th gen processor. Right now i switched back to my i5-6500 and its working fine, please help.

hmmmm.... support for 7th gen cpu on the DM1 series is officially not given... is that bios a premamod, by any chance? did u make sure that the bios flash went through correctly?

edit: just checked and AZOM is indeed a premamod partner :) check and see in the bios if it says premamod on the main page.

how long did you wait for an image to appear on the display after installing the 7700K? it sometimes takes pretty long, i.e. several minutes until something appears...

have u tested the 7700K on another computer to make sure its not defective?

What version BIOS did you flash to? IIRC, only 1.06.xx supports the upgrade.

The guys at Azom told me that others were able to upgrade their cpu without any problems and this was the first time they heard of such a problem.

That's a very old version. Ask them to remote update your system to version 2 and it'll work.

I'm guessing that's their mod of the original 1.05.09 from Clevo, which doesn't support your upgrade. As long as there's no damage to the socket, flashing a 1.06.xx BIOS should smooth it over.

Sorry man, just saw that you have an original DM model, which never received support for the KBL chips.
I've made a test version a long time back, but it isn't working well enough to make it available to Partner...

Is there any chance of getting a workable bios? I am in a fix as i have already bought the processor.

It's just an unstable POC version. I never publish anything that doesn't work properly...
Should I ever find the time to finish it up your PremaPartner will hit you up.

Sorry to bother you, but can you please let me know if I should be hopeful of getting a bios. I am ready to wait but some assurance will be highly appreciated. I use my laptop for work purpose and I use software like Solidworks and i need the i7 for simulation purpose as it requires Hyper threading . If there is any support you require please contact me.

You would be best off going for a 6700k in that case. Stick with official support if it's for work.

I agree. IPC doesnt differ from the 7700k, so if OP wants "moar powah" he could always scour ebay, online shops and the hardware forums here for a nicely clocking 6700K :)

The predicament is that the processor has already been bought by my company and is very difficult to sell as it requires permissions and such. The price diff in 6700k and 7700k at the time of buying was around 50$(7700k was cheaper) and I expected that the mobo was a z170 so there should have been support for 7th series processor. At this point I am ready to wait for Prema mod if he can make the bios or the last option is that i buy a 6700k for the laptop and wait for pc prices stable down and i buy rest of the pc for the 7700k.
