    Hi,

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'm new to the gaming notebook world and I was unable to find another thread that answered my question.

I have a NP 5760 with a 7950GTX vid card in it. I know that for now this is one of the best cards available, but I'm concerned with games coming out in the future with DirectX 10, which the 7950GTX has only DirectX 9. Is it possible to upgrade to a future card that has DirectX 10? Or, would it be possible to upgrade the video driver to DirectX 10?

    Thanks for your time!

    Chris

Unfortunately, the Sager 5760 (Clevo M570U) will not have any more videocard upgrades. So you have topped out the videocard for that system.

The successor Sager 5790/1 (Clevo M570RU) has been designed with a new MXM-IV module that is made for standard videocard upgrades.... while the previous generation of Clevo notebooks were using a proprietary modular design.

I am kind of on the same boat. My notebook is of the previous generation and can only top out with the 7950GTX... but my 7800GTX is still fine with the new games... so I am hurting too bad. :)

Your 7950GTX is still a great videocard, and should play the newer games fine at medium to high settings (at decently high resolutions).

I would not worry about the DX10 thing, most reviews of the new games (Bioshock, UT3, Crysis, etc...) have shown little to no discernible differences from DX10 to DX9 modes.

Erm, the Sager 5760 was the old Clevo M570U, right?

    So, it's not gonna happen...sorry.

    Edit: Gophn was first... :p

    Then again, I don't have a spare $600 so I guess it's all for the best :)
