Hey i was thinking about buying a barebones 8690 from RJtech and using most of the parts from my NP8662 but not sure if i can because of the motherboard. Does the 8690 only support i5's and up or can i put in my QX9300? Also will i be able to use the same RAM, HDD, and intel wireless? I know it seems odd to spend $900 on a new model but it will cost $400-$700 to upgrade my 260 to a 280 anyway and i would like to try out the 1080p screen.

    Thanks,

The 8690 only supports i5's and i7's, your QX9300 won't work in it. You can use your old RAM, HDD and wireless in the 8690 without problems.

For the wireless, I'm not sure since the 8690 comes with a half size mini-PCI-E one and the 8662 comes with a full size one. So it depends on the available room in the motherboard. If some one can open his 8690 and check if the installed card could be double-sized.

I'd just sell the QX9300 it should still give some good money. Somebody is searching for a QX9300 here.
