Hi - Getting a 970M for my P170EM to replace my dead 7970M. If the 970M vBIOS is flashed for my system is there anything else that needs to be done or will the card work right away?
    Thanks!

You will need to use Prema's system bios, the stock vbios should be fine.

The 970M was never officially in the P150EM so there is no offical vbios designed for the system.

Wow Meaker, that's 3 dead 7970's biting the dust in a row tonight. Looks like a bunch of them only made it to 4 years. (I haven't been on the forums for a few months).
I pulled mine out in 2012 and replaced it with the 680M and the almost new 7970 is still sitting in the parts bin, I think. Hopefully that 680 runs longer than the 7970 or my sister will be calling me soon. I gave my P170EM to her when I got the P770ZM last year.

Both have had failures yes, but after 4 years you would expect to see more.

Thanks so much for your reply :)

The guy I bought it from asked what model laptop I have and I said P170EM. He said he needed to know to flash the vBIOS and said the card should work without me modifying my system BIOS... Does that make sense? Ebay says he's sold a lot of them.

To use Prema's BIOS, which of these should I download (I'm in North America): http://i.imgur.com/cBfaJ6z.png?1

Also, my BIOS says it is 1.00.05 -- Prema's site says that it requires 1.00.04. Will having 1.00.05 be a problem?

What tool should I be using the flash the firmware?

If you look he is saying you need to be on AT LEAST 1.04, 1.05 is later than 1.04.

As for what the reseller knows I doubt he has the experience of myself, let alone what Prema knows ;)

Prema has put in the names what defines what BIOS you should go for depending on keyboard.

Please read through everything CAREFULLY to avoid a brick.
