Just a silly question, dunno why I ask even. Im pretty sure i even know the answer. Guess im just bored. But anyways

to my knowledge, they do not make 2gb chips of ram for laptops yet, correct?

when they do, will the 5720 or any other notebooks be upgradable to 4 gigs?

Only the new intel motherboards support up to 4gb ram (945). The older ones (915 etc) only support up to 2gb.

Also, win xp cant take advantage of 4gb, you need xp 64bit or vista.

current hardware (motherboard) RAM limitations are that of 2GB on most 32-bit AND 64-bit capable notebooks. the 32-bit ceiling is 4GB although i've only heard of one laptop that supports up to 4GB --- i forget which one. the 64-bit architecture supports up to 128GB --- so we probably won't see the 4GB+ RAM capable motherboards until the 64-bit architecture, hardware and software is more mainstream --- like in 2+ years. i doubt that you'd see a performance improvement in current machines with more than 2GB of RAM. there are other system bottlenecks to take into consideration.

Well, the Sager 5720's max. RAM capacity is 2GB anyway, so you can't go any higher.

The Clevo D900T (aka Sager 9890, Alienware Area-51M 7700) can take 4GB of DDR2; however Windows only recognizes 2.8GB.

There are 2GB DIMMs for desktops, I don't believe there are any for laptops. At least, not yet. ;)
