I bought the 8150 in March before the ATI 6990 card was out so right now I have the Nvidia 460m and I want to upgrade to the 580M. I just wanted to know how I would go about doing that. Where do I buy the card, Do I have to update the BIOS, and such things? And do I have to do this myself or send it back to Xoticpc and do it through them?
I'm also considering upgrading the display from the screen that comes from stock to the matte screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut, but that's not set in stone yet.

Are you willing to pay over $500 for the upgrade?

Your reseller can take care of it for you or you can always do it yourself pretty easily. However, the upgrade when you purchase the machine is close to $400. The card itself is closer to $600-700+. You can always sell your 560m separately to earn back the difference (if there are people looking to buy it).

Oh, I see. I'm not really worried about money though. So I buy the card through the reseller? And if I want them to install it for me I'm assuming I have to pay for the labor as well?
Does this also go for the screen, if that's even possible?

You can check with your reseller, or basically any. Many can sell individual parts. As far as labor, check with your reseller as it may be covered under your warranty. That would be specific to them though. The screen is also possible to upgrade too. A lot of people buy them from ebay, but you can get that from a reseller or parts place also. Same deal with the labor.

Both the screen and the GPU are fairly easy DIY installs though. Here's a link to the service manual (thanks to Theriko).

So according to the manual the board accepts MXM 3 cards. Would I be able to install any MXM 3.0B card such as a quadro K series? Any help would be appreciated.

No, not any card. The system BIOS has to be able to accept it. In some cases, there are known BIOS/vBIOS mods that will allow the card to work - you just need to take extra care when flashing any BIOS.

Thank you for the quick reply, does this mean if I call the manufacturer they can help me make sure the bios is updated to support the card or do i need to mod/update the bios on my own?

Whoever you got the machine from can send you latest bios and EC. You would want to flash them before installing the card.

That said if you can't find a cheap Clevo 580M and money isn't a concern might be worth looking at selling that machine and getting a new one?

The 7970M can be had with a specific bios for the HM series and would blow the 580M out of the water performance wise.
