I'm looking at getting a Sager NP9370 once a refund for returning a Lenovo Y500 comes in. I've narrowed down to going through either xoticpc or powernotebooks, mostly the former, but am unsure on what GPU to start with initially. The 7970m is the most cost effective it seems, but upgrading to 7970mCF seems to make the heat situation in the laptop much worse.

Has anyone started with a 7970m and then moved to a single or dual 680m setup through one of the resellers? Any ideas of what that would cost, and if it becomes less to start with a single 680m then move to SLI?

When you go through your original reseller the cost of the upgrade is pretty reasonable, especially if you just have the parts shipped to you, you can also get them through sager directly or especially for the cards ebay.

Dual 680M is lovely, but not cheap.... My ideal setup for single card would be the 3d edition with the 680M, but it does cost me itself.

Ah, OK. It looks like I may be looking to start out with the basic version with a 7970 because of summer school tuition, and then slowly upgrading over time. Hopefully the 780Ms will work in this (Been a long time since I've kept up on laptop expansion parts so have no idea on what the current TDP, wattages, and such are at) since I should be able to upgrade around Pell time for the next school year. Looks like I'll be contacting you folks at PowerNotebooks first since you took the time to answer my question.
