A couple of months ago I purchased the secondhand notebook computer you can see in my signature... the reason the previous owner was selling it, was because he found it to be terribly slow.
Realising that only 1Gb of memory was installed, and the machine was running Vista, after some hassle, I managed to install a copy of XP on the machine, which speeded it up considerably.
Not having heard of this brand of notebook, I researched on the web, to discover that it was a "barebones" unit, manufactured originally by Clevo, and a bonus is the apparent upgradability compared to other makes of laptop.
If I may ask a couple of questions of the more knowledgable members of this forum...
Memory upgrade... the handbook I received with this machine states the maximum upgrade for all four models of this notebook, (A B C & D), to be 4Gb, (2 X 2Gb)... however, the Clevo M7xxS handbook I downloaded from this site, states the maximum upgrade for this (model B) notebook, to be 2Gb ?
I am considering fitting an additional 2Gb stick of RAM to increase the total to 3Gb... I am presently using the 32bit version of Win XP
CPU upgrade... the spec sheet gives a list of CPU's which I assume are compatible to this motherboard....
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T8100/T8300
(2.1/2.4GHz, 45nm, FSB800, 3MB L2 cache, 478uFC-PGA, Socket P)
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9300/T9500
(2.5/2.6GHz, 45nm, FSB800, 6MB L2 cache, 478uFC-PGA, Socket P)
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7100/T7250
(1.8/2.0GHz, 65nm, FSB800, 2MB L2 cache, 478uFC-PGA, Socket P)
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7300/T7500/T7700/T7800
(2.0/2.2/2.4/2.6GHz, 65nm, FSB800, 4MB L2, 478uFC-PGA, Socket P)
Intel Celeron processor T1600/T1700
(1.66/1.86GHz, 65nm, FSB667, 1MB L2 cache, 478uFC-PGA, Socket P)
Intel Celeron processor 575/585
(2.00/2.16GHz, 65nm, FSB667, 1MB L2 cache, 478uFC-PGA, Socket P)
Intel Celeron processor 530/540/550/560
(1.73/1.86/2.0/2.13GHz, 65nm, FSB533, 1MB L2 cache, 478uFC-PGA, Socket P)
Can I just replace my present Intel Celeron 530 CPU which has the 65nm die size, with the Intel Core Duo T9500 2.6Ghz CPU with the 45nm die, as they are both socket "P" cpu's ?
My reasons for upgrading, are because I use my PC's for photo and video editing, and this excellent little notebook will be useful for that purpose once upgraded, when away from home.
Regards... Alan.

Although the service manual says 2GB only, I see no reason why 4G should not work. As you say, in XP32 you won't see the full amount, and it is possible that even in a 64bit environment you may not see it all either (due to chipset limitations).
The T9500 should be a drop-in. -
Thank you for your fast reply Theriko, it was actually your link I downloaded the PDF manual from... thank you for that also... it is strange that my paper manual states a 4Gb memory max., but the PDF one states 2Gb max for this model... I will purchase a 2Gb stick and try it alongside the present 1Gb one.
I am presently looking at the silly prices for T9500 CPU's, and even T7800's seem to be holding their prices, when you can find them.
Thanks again for your reply.
Alan.
