Something bios wise is not happy then or possibly the CPU but that's not likely.

Have you tried pulling the CMOS battery?

I have not. What would that do?

It resets the BIOS and can clear up some strange issues sometimes. Its worth a try because it only takes 5 minutes to do. Its one more thing you can rule out.
