Hello,
I currently own a Kushan P170E
With
GTX 680M 4GB
I7-3610QM 2.30Ghz
Is there any way i could upgrade to GTX 780M?
And is there any point to upgrade the GPU? for gaming boost?
Thanks

You would have to wait for a modified video bios.

It would get you better gaming performance but yeah you'll have to wait for a community modded vBIOS or hope that Sager releases one eventually. As of right now, not many people have their hands on the new cards/machines so it's still a work in progress.

The biggest gains in gaming come from the high speed VRAM at high resolutions, the extra shaders and boost function helps too.

I did read about the custom bios, i also read the card that GTX 680M used 100W and the 780 uses 130w, And there whould be power issues,
That the socket will fit is confirmed? -

The GPU still uses the MXM-B slot so the interface is correct, but there are difficulties in making it work correctly beyond that. The vBIOS referenced before is going to be the determining factor as if it will be possible but there is definitely some difficulties in getting it to that point. -
It's an sBIOS issue...

Oh now that's interesting. I would have though EC or Vbios but Sbios.... interesting.

Yep, as usual with Sagers and new video cards.
Judging by the amount of people with p150ems and p170ems who will be looking to upgrade, I'd say you can be assured a modded bios will come -- but when is unknown. -
780M cost around $725 before tax, which is almost twice the amount of the 680M alone. Is it worth the upgrade or is it better off to just go for a laptop that has 680M sli? I heard the performance is only 10 to 15 percent increase.

Where can you get the 680m for $300 - $400? Last I heard, the 680m is still going approximately $600. There was a guy here who damaged his 680m by accidently. He will definitely appreciate it if you can reference the place to get the 680m at such a low price. -

Yeah the 680M has not really been replaced by a cheaper card yet (only the 780M beats it) so prices have not shifted much.
