I'm looking to upgrade my NP8265, and have some questions regarding a few things.

I read the manual and a few different websites, it's unclear whether I get 2 hdd + 2 msata + optical, or just 1 hdd + 2 msata + optical. The manual + technical details lists the 2 hdd + 2 msata + optical but a few websites say there is no second hdd.

I read through the manual and it doesn't list the locations of the msata slots. I noticed 1 when I took off the component bay cover, but I don't know where the second one is, maybe it's underneath?

Lastly a ram upgrade question. I have 2 sticks of 8GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory installed. If I were to install 2 more, would they need to be identical to the previous 2 sticks, or can they be anything as long as it's DDR3 and 1600MHz?

    Thanks for the help.

You should try to get identical sticks as best as you can. Mismatching sticks should work indeed, but there's no real guarantee, and mismatching sticks have caused problems in the past.

Secondly, going by my P370SM3 aka NP 9380, your second mSATA slot is under the keyboard. I could be way off, but I suspect it is. If you can't see a part by taking off your backplate, it's probably under the keyboard, as clevo machines are super famous for being easy to upgrade etc, so you shouldn't need to remove the motherboard for that XD.

Thirdly, (I'm answering in reverse here for some reason) your machine, based PURELY on looking at the P150SM-A model (yours is a P150SM), appears to have 1 HDD bay and 2 mSATA bays. A second HDD is only accessible via removal of the optical drive bay. I wish I could be of more help, but finding older models in a build configurator is often difficult. I can say that the SM-A models are pretty much the same as the SM models, so... you should be fine.

Hm, identical sticks could be a problem, guess I'll call into sager to see if I can get the info.

Reading HTWingNut's review, it looks like there is only those 3 hdd slots, the 1 under optical, 1 msata, and under hdd casing.

Well, guess I'll wait a little bit before I upgrade.

    Thanks for you help.

It should be two msata ports and one dedicated hard drive bay. A second drive can be added via replacing the optical drive for a caddy.

You can mix capacities and brands, though the most stability comes from using the same brand across all modules. Matching capacities will yield a slight (I stress slight) bump in performance, but not matching them will not affect stability.

Would you mind letting me know what this hdd slot is supposed to be then?

    imgur: the simple image sharer

It's pages from the manual. Is that supposed to be an msata hard drive, because it seems a bit large to be one. If it is not the msata drive, do you happen to know where the second one is located?

    Thanks for the help.

I won't pretend to know what it is, but laptop hard drives are FAR smaller than that. I know that much.

Maybe it's an optical drive caddy? Not sure at all.

The red thing being pulled out in the first image is the opitcal drive caddy. The thing underneath is supposed to be for a hdd. Well thanks for the help. Can't rep you since I've done it too recently apparently.

That does not look like a P150SM-A. The P150SM-A doesn't have a bottom cover that can be removed to expose the optical drive.

Are you sure that's the right manual? Maybe it's for a P157SM.

Wow, sorry. I was under the impression I ordered the 65, my mistake. I actually ordered the np8255, (Clevo P157SM). I don't know why made the mistake.
