    Hello everyone.

My Batman is beginning to show it's age and i feel like I'm in a odd position where I can't really sell it to get money back, and I can't upgrade the relevant parts to extend it's life.

My friend is insisting the gpu can be upgraded in addition to the cpu, but i was positive that was not the case, but after a long discussion I was prompted to make a post on this forum after 2 years to find out what I can do with the sager Batman.

It currently has the stock desktop cpu, i7-4790K, 16gb ram, and the 980m gpu.

It's showing it's age with games like PUBG, ARK, For Honor, and R6 Siege, where I need to be on medium low to reach 60fps, but mostly because I now use a 34in ultrawide monitor.

Also, some Photoshop filters take secconds to load aswell.

I've done every registery / startup hack possible to to increase performance, I've even disabled a bunch of animated windows UI settings. Sometimes I feel like wiping the whole computer and reinstalling the drivers but I'm afraid to loose my windows install, and it was a hassle to install all the drivers.

I'm here to ask what are some additional steps I could take and to get some general information :

    1. Can the gpu be upgraded?
    2. How much is the laptop still worth?
    3. Is there a reseller service that will upgrade the laptop at a discount (instead of paying $1700 for a new one)
4.would a fresh reinstall help increase performance incase there have been driver hiccups all this time?

People online and on Reddit are quick to remind me how the 980m is still powerful and reliable. this makes me wonder if my expectations are just higher than the average person, or if there has been something about my configuration causing it to not reach it's full potential?

And a bonus: I have no idea how to overclock anything (I can't find and instructional videos on my laptop to overclock it)

As allwayse, thank you for any input and opinion !

    1. Yes but not officially, there are some at least closer to standard MXM sized cards from 3rd parties that can fit, sometimes with a little dremmel help.
    2. Check the members market.
    3. No official upgrades.
    4. No, it's unlikely driver related.

If you're running said games at 1080p, your 980M should run them at much higher graphics settings than medium-low; look into the driver and uninstall Geforce Experience if that's the case. At 4K, medium-low sounds more reasonable, maybe then it's worth considering upgrading.
