I was wondering if anyone knows that if you do a RAM upgrade not purchased from Sager if it will void the warranty.
-
Well as far as I know, you are fully able to upgrade Sagers without voiding your warranty. But you should check with your reseller.
-
I was thinking of buying from Sager directly. Not sure if they have any resellers in Canada. And most Canadian places I've checked for other brands are still not giving prices fixed to the American price.
-
Upgrading RAM on any laptop will not void the warranty.
-
And I've heared that they'll price match (sometimes) -
-
a reason might be usefull here
-
His threads speak for themselves.
-
What I see in his thread, is that he has 1 minor problem with his power button. This can easily be fixed under warranty.
For me, that isn't even Eurocoms fault, it's Clevos.
I don't see any other big issue in that thread, other than him jumping to conclusions and then admitting he made a mistake.
Am I missing something? Cause I honestly don't see a reason why not to recommend them. -
How about three (or four) screens with a dead pixel/pixels?
-
Again: it's not their fault: they don't make the screens. Go to any other reseller, or even any other brand, and you can get just as unfortunate.
I will admit they can check the screen before sending out a (replacement) screen. Especially if it happens 3 or 4 times in a row, and even more so if it allows happens to the same customer. However, since he is the only person having a problem with this (the only one I see on this forum anyway), I suspect it's just a case of very bad luck. -
I wouldn't call it bad luck.
-
I don`t think it`s Eurocom`s fault. Maybe somebody sent them a bigger batch of lemons, so they can`t really do anything about it. But come on, if 1 dot is dead in a 1920x1200 screen, and you can see it while gaming, then cut my beard and call me grandpa.
On topic : you can upgrade anything you want AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT BREAK ANYTHING INSIDE THE LAPTOP. IF you do, you will void it.
Also, I do not sugest using RAM from sager. You can get 2x2 gb for as low as 80 bucks ( G4skill, Adata ,Patriot and Micron are all compatible with the sagers). -
a dead pixel on a lcd is a broken lcd... i didnt buy a broken lcd... i hav the 3rd lcd in my hand... if its perfect ill call back mr eurocom and tell him i love him... if not im calling him telling him thanks to waste my time and ask for a refund and buy at xotic...
-
So you got the 2nd lcd with a dead pixel too and now you got your third lcd? do they even replace it without a policy or did you get the dead lcd insurance?
-
Even without a dead pixel warranty you can get it replaced for them being idiots.
-
I really don`t think that a company would take back a laptop just because you say it has a dead pixel. At least not where I live. So you`re lucky MegaBud, people in America seem to give a rats ass if the customer is happy, canadian or american, that is..
-
FTB: you just go where the wind blows, don't you?
As far as I can tell, you're basing your entire judgement upon the experience of 1 person. This, imo, does not alow you to call a company a bunch of idiots.
I could be wrong, but when LCDs started to appear, I think you were entitled to return your screen when you had 5 dead pixels in the center of the screen. It appears that MegaBUD had only 1 dead pixel. If he did not have the dead pixel warranty (I don't know if he did or did not), I think Eurocom has threated him very well by doing 2 exchanges for just 1 dead pixel.
One more reason to recommend them instead of calling them idiots.
(In case anyone wonders: no I don't work for them, nor did I ever do business with them.) -
I'm too heavy to go where the wind blows. I'm not judging them, it's that it's all starting to sum up: his bad experience, 105$ for a wireless card, 300$ for the new Penryn CPUs and so on. I guess they don't really like customers. You would have to be not smart (so I wouldn't say idiot again) to send the laptop back with another dead pixel. That's just unacceptable. I know what you're thinking, but I still don't like their policy. Instead of having some matched prices with Sager or whatever they still have their policy of ripping some people off. That's what pisses me off.
-
if you don't get the dead pixel policy i believe it is covered in your warranty to send it back at no charge. so basically it just saves you sum time more than anything.
and i understand how its unreasonable to blame a whole company over one incident and it might not have been their fault. but i also see MB's reason to send it back as many times as he did becuase even just one dead pixel means that the screen is "broke" and he deserves to get it fixed. -
It is unreasonable to blame a whole company over one incident, but when they send you two more "defective" screens then something's wrong.
-
Apparently (what I gather from MBs posts), the original screen had a dead pixel, and so did the replacement screen. The screen he has now is his third screen, but I don't know if anything is wrong with that.
Also, I don't know how the dead pixel warranty works.
I pulled this off Eurocoms site:
IF DM took the optional warranty, he could examine what it exactly is this warranty offers. If he did not pay for this additional warranty, I believe Eurocom has already done more than they should by replacing the defective units.
Since there are 2 people from eurocom on this board (paladin44 and Mr. Eurocom), maybe they could tell us what the dead pixel warranty provides. They can either offer a replacement when only 1 dead pixel occurs (instead of the 6/7 that are required under the regular warranty), or they can offer an additional check of the screen before they send it out.
Only if the latter is the case AND MB paid for the warranty, Eurocom has made an error. In any other case: they did not. -
OK, despite what may seem like a logical argument, I believe that it is very annoying to have a dead pixel anywhere. You know it's there, you notice it's there...it's annoying and Eurocom proved that they made a mistake..like three times (his third LCD is not that great either, as he said somewhere here).
Eurocom has no member on this board. paladin44 is from PowerNotebooks and Mr. Eurocom is banned for some reasons (one being the fact that he recommended their laptops everywhere on the WNSIB forum). -
my 3rd lcd had dark corner... and dark border all over the lcd... this was my 3rd bad lcd in a row... and the last one from eurocom... im trying to have more information about xotic lcd... but justin doesnt like the fact that i returned 3 lcd already... i am a very difficult customer...
eurocom did their best, but i wasnt enough... like he said... for a regular customer its enough but if you are a little bit difficult your doomed...
if xotic cant confirm me that the lcd i would receive do not have dead pixel and no dark corner... i will just get a desktop and use my perfect viewsonic monitor at home...
is it hard to have a great laptop from sager/clevo? -
No, but bad stuff happens.
-
That is the weird thing that people don`t seem to understand. IS IT THAT HARD TO CHECK THE DAMN SCREEN BEFORE THEY SHIP IT? NO! It`s the company policy to ship even lcds with dead/bright/stuck pixels ,because it`s too hard (5 min) to check for a problem with them.Hey ,some are stupid enough to be stuck with those kind of lcds.
Now if you would have 5 bridght/dead pixels ,even the damn warranty wouldn`t change much, you would still be stuck with it. But be glad you live in a country where you can return a product and receive full payment back no questions asked. In my country I can`t do that without a proper reason. -
You can do it in 10 working days if you buy online, but that's a different story.
-
Yea, by the time the product gets to you , those 10 days are long gone. Isn`t Romania lovely?
-
That's two weeks man. It does apply to shipping within the country.
-
My point exactly. I know when I ordered a part online, took exactly 12 business days to get it ( a cable for a tv connection) and it was no good, but by the time it got to me, it was too late to return it. But that is an exception, usually online things get to their destination in 1-2 business days.(for a small country that is)
-
I usually get my stuff next business day, sometimes even during Saturdays.
-
I got my USB external sound card 18 hours after online purchase , so there
Upgrading parts yourself, void warranty?
