Trying to figure out what to buy. Looking at the Malibal P170HM. Would love to get the 580M video, but that would take me over my budget.

I was wondering... how difficult is it to update the video on this laptop? Does my choice in video card now affect what choices I have un updating later? In other words, do I need to get a NVidia card, to upgrade to NVidia, or can i get an AMD card and then upgrade to NVidia later?

Would love to see how the insides look, does anyone have any videos? Seen a few screen shots, but would love to see more.

    Thanks.

Upgrading is simple. For the GPU, you'd have to remove the back panel screws, then unscrew the heatsink for the card itself. It just pops out then and takes maybe 10 minutes. You shouldn't have any issues going between manufacturers unless you go with the 120hz screen which is Nvidia specific.

Upgrading to a higher card later can be very expensive though. Most upgrades will run you $500+ for the card + heatsink.

ouch.... didn't think it would be that expensive. Guess I should make sure I get a vid card that I can be happy with in the long run then.

    Thanks for the reply.
