I bought my NP9262 with a plan to upgrade it to dual-9800M GT in a year or so, once i get some 'expendable income' rolling around again. Is it possible to get the card setup, and then just pop it in and download the drivers for SLi? or am I grossly misunderstanding how this works?
Or, when the time comes, should I just send it back to XoticPC with a purchase and install order?

You actually are grossly misunderstanding how this works.
The dedicated graphics card is soldered onto the mobo.
So you can't upgrade. -
@winterecho, it's really easy, you just plug it in like RAMs. You don't even need a new driver, SLI mode is already included. -
-
Sooo... I can just buy 9800 #2 and pop her in?
-
YES, you can get a 9800M GT now and upgrade LATER.
-
how about the 9800m GTX?

It's a little more involved than just "popping" the second card in and installing the drivers; but by and large, that is what it amounts to. The additional complications basically involve the number of screws that must be removed and one or two other components that need to be loosened and/or moved to get the second card in place.
Anyone with an anti-static wristguard, an anti-static workpad, a screwdriver, some patience, and a modicum of technical ability and thermal solution spreading skills will be able to do it. -
You are grossly inflating your post count by posting when you don't know what the answer to the question is. Even spending one day around the Sager forum would tell you that the video cards are indeed upgradeable through MXM.
Upgrading the video card is basically like playing with legos. -

You also need to have the BIOS for the daughtercard that matches your primary card BIOS. Check the other thread: More on 9800 GTX support where I speculated on using an GTX in the primary and a GT in the daughtercard slot. What you want to do would be a perfect situation.

I thought of one other thing. When you bought, or buy your system with a single card, they are ( probably) NOT going to give you the fan and related stuff for the second card. Make sure you procure those NOW to avoid hassle later.
-
Which, well, sucks. -
The 8800 SLI also require a cable [located on the underside of the Cards at installation]. I assume that this would be the case for the 9800 SLI also...This type cable is not present for the 7950 GTX.
-
Um... ok. so, say, in a year, when I have the time and capital, I will probably send the 9262 back in and have XoticPC do it.
-
if you are not confident in yourself to do it then yes.

When I received my my 9262, it came with only one card installed. I then received the second card about a month later. The second card came with fan and heat attached (it looks as though it came that way from nVidia) as well as instructions on how to install, a CD with a new bios for my motherboard and the little SLi cable. Installation was quite easy if you know how to use a screw driver, though I must say getting the SLi ribbon cable to connect fully was a little tricky.
