First I'm new so don't flog me for asking. I'm looking into a desktop replacement for gaming and I am liking the clevo based systems the best so far with Sager being the top of my list mostly due to price as compared to most of the clevo resellers. I'm looking at getting a 7800gtx in whatever I finally decide on and will like want to upgrade in a year to year and a half.

The real problem is that even though I'm not exactly a Dell fan and hate the fact the XPS m170 only comes with a Pent M the option of upgrading a graphics card is huge. Let's face it every year and a half or so you need to upgrade and when investing 2,500 to 3k on a throw away system I want at least the option of upgrading the one thing that really holds a gaming machine back other than RAM.

With the MXM technology out now what have we heard about upgrading a card in the Sager's and how would it be done? You obviously can't go to newegg.com and order one.

    Hi there,

Several Clevo's can be updated, such as the 900K chasis (Alienware 7700) or the 570A (Sager, Promedion and a gazillion others). Often it is fairly expensive due to upgraded motherboards, power supplies etc.

You can find information about MXM in my sig.

I believe that the D900 series uses a specific card. It can be upgraded, however, when/if Clevo offers it. They have done it in the past.

The NP-3880 can't be upgraded. The 5320 has a slim chance - it uses the AXIOM format for a graphics card, which is not common. I find the possibility of upgrading unlikely.

We certainly can. Let's hope the when the upgraded 5320 with the Core Duo comes out, we can buy an X1600 and slap it in. ;)

    Cheers,
