does the USB hub have an external (AC) power supply? your gadgets might be drawing more juice than the USB port can supply...

You probably need a powered hub, USB doesn't have the best power output if you know what I mean.

im suspicous of the latest bios updates in this regard, the updates reference some correction int ac/dv power, it might have alter the energy output???

Edit: the hub works on my dell computer from work but i assume its different machines so, cant really compare....

You have a crappy hub. Get a better hub? Yours sounds like it has all the symptoms of a failing/bad model.

Ive seen your thread, and i already thought about it....but the thing is i have this great keyboard i use which also happens to have a usb hub and it used to work well, but since i updated the bios(to witch version i dont know) the thing started to work badly, and if i plug anything at the its hub, then it completely stutters and refuses to work well. Im still going to try those y usb cables to see if i can get it to work well. I managed to make it work well trrough a 1.1 usb hub......
Basically all devices that dont seem to have any usb hub work well, even the external 2.0 usb hdd....

Oh, I've misread your problem. Well if your talking about hubs, you would really be expecting a problem. Since hubs divides the drawn current from one usb port to the number of ports in the hub making devices connected to it function improperly. This is a common problem for most hubs that's why some have a power supply unit that comes with them.

Bought another usb hub from targus, things still dont work, i mean, all the usb devices keep working well, but as soon as i plug a 2.0 hub, the keyboard or mouse wont work properly....

Edit: well the keyboard which has has a 2 port 2.0 usb hub doesnt work directly connected to the laptop, but now works through a 1.1 usb hub....what the hell???
