Hey guys,
I have a NP9170 with a 680m. I also have an external monitor which can do stereoscopic 3D. Is there a way to set this up so I can use stereoscopic 3D via my external monitor from my laptop, or no?
Thanks,
Koop

I think you would need an NVIDIA 3DVision kit for that (active shutter glasses + IR receiver).

Well, you see, my end result is trying to run the LightBoost trick (see this link: LightBoost HOWTO | The Blur Busters). My external monitor supports this, so I'm not actually trying to use 3D, however I need to be able to enable the 3D mode from the nvidia control panel, which currently does not exist, I believe because of the way the dual graphics are handled, technically my monitor is connected to the intel graphics, not the 680m.
So, not really sure if I can do what I am trying to achieve, but I figured I would ask here first. -

To have hope it would need to be connected to the display port.

Anything in particular special about using the display port instead of DVI?

The DVI is single link only.

Yeah, which would not supply enough video bandwidth for this. -

I believe the end result of past attempts of doing this is that the displayport won't work either as it also goes through the iGPU and limits your ability to do so.
Using Nvidia 3D with external monitor? (NP9170)
