Short question:
Can I plug my PS3 into my P170HMx and use it as a tv screen via a HDMI cable? If yes, will I need software for this?
Also has anyone done this? Does it work well? Reason I'm asking is because I'll spend my next summer out in a small cabin and was reasoning between using the Laptop as a tv screen or if I should just buy a flat screen.

Does not work im afraid.
The HDMI port on the Clevo P170HMx is only for output.
If you check out the Alienware m17x r3 it has separate HDMI ports, one for input and then one for output.
We might see a HDMI input thingy for USB 3.0 in the future (reasonably priced) but until then both you and me are out of luck. D; -
Oh bummer. Was looking forward to play the MGS HD Collection on it. Oh well 32" it is.
Thank you for your reply. -

You can do it with a capture card and some TV tuner models though (using component typically). But as was pointed out, this model does not have HDMI input.

HDMI-In is a suggestion that many have made on the list of "Things to Improve on..." topic of these boards.
The more people that request it, the more likely Sager may listen, and forward that info on to Clevo. You should post in that thread as well. See here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/610291-what-improve.html
