    All,

I am thinking about using an external monitor and keyboard with my 5760. Why? Well, my desktop died and I have completely switched over to the notebook. Given that I have a good keyboard, mouse, and monitor (23" widescreen), I figured I give this some thought.

    Some questions:
    1) From the control panel, I can change the setting such that the computer does not go into hibernate when the lid is closed. But, will the monitor turn off? Or, do I set that via the video settings?
    2) Is there some way to turn of the computer (or at least wake it from standby) without having to press the power button?

Any thoughts/suggestions you might have regarding this would be appreciated. Thx.

the monitor should turn off when you close the LCD. (physical function, not software driven)
    - or you can set your external display to be the primary display (in the nView settings), and the the notebooks LCD will turn off when the Windows starts up.

you mean turn on or turn off?

for a notebook, the only ways I know that you can do it is:
    - using a docking station (specific to the notebook model).... Clevo's do not do docking stations
    - or Wake on LAN (WOL)

other than those two ways, you would just have to open the lid and press power.
