I have an M570RU with a destroyed LCD screen, so I am planning to just hook it up to a monitor and use it. It's a wicket idea, but that is what's left of it. All the wires that go from the laptop to the LCD are cut.

I tried all ports to the monitor to no avail. The screen does not even detect anything. What can I try? Please help!

Wires cut, as you can see.

Wires cut on the right too.

What is this? Doesn't look like the VGA port.

Hooked this straight up to the monitor both that white port and S-Video...no signal.

Did you try seeing if there was a fn command for switching monitors? On some of them they are like FN+F2 or F3. Give it a shot, I can't tell from your picture if there is one. Usually it looks like a screen and says LCD on it. If it has HDMI, hook it up to it and hit that button after you think it has loaded to the Login screen.

If it does not have HDMI try with the DVI port (The white one).

The laptop does not seem to have an HDMI port anywhere--it is quite old I guess, from 2007. I did try the FN+F2 to toggle the LCD on/off. On the keyboard, the F2 key has a monitor icon and says "LCD". Tried both FN+F2 keys on the DVI and S-Video ports to the monitor to no avail. I am surprised this doesn't have a VGA port. :[

To hook my old M570RU up to an external monitor, I always had to do it via the Nvidia control panel, the FN+F2 never worked for me.

ok, so we would probably need a "blind-how-to" guide in order to access the option in the nvidia control panel :p

Try taking it apart and disconnect the LCD screen cable thats connecting to the motherboard. While the cable is cut the mobo might still think its still connected. Unfortunately it looks like you also cut your wifi antenna cables too so to get internet hook up the LAN cable.

The other thing is, it could be a dead GPU. Around the time that notebook came out is when the whole nvidia BGA problem was going on.

Hutsady has the right of this.

You'll need to open the laptop and unplug the LCD display. Try doing a YouTube search for a teardown on your system.

You can buy DVI to VGA adapters at your local electronics store. You can also buy a DVI to HDMI adapter as well since DVI and HDMI are the same signal.

Isn't that S-Video next to the DVI? If so you can try that in your TV. :p

I have tried that S-Video straight to my TV, and it doesn't seem to detect it. Could it be the NVidia Control Panel as someone stated? I will need a blind tutorial. :p

I am going to open up the laptop and take out the cables for the LCD display. I am not going to say my GPU is bad just yet. Wish me luck!

When you connect the tv have you tried FN + F7 ? several times, from what i see in your keyboard that seems to be the screen swap key combo.
Another thing is that you probably need to be inside windows to swap the screen , i am not sure tho, so if you are turning the laptop on and cant see the logon to type your password... hummm

I would say take that mangled poor thing to a local PC fix shop, they will hook you up in no time, and no cost i guess...
