I own a Clevo D900C with a WDC ATA Hard Disk, Q6600 CPU,GPU 8800M GTX, 4Gb Ram, and a motherboard with the P965/G965 Chipset, 1.00.20 BIOS and KBC 1.00.12.Running Vista Ultimate x64
I got one (eternal) question which are the best GPU drivers for this configuration?
I just formatted my laptop and installed the vendor drivers for the 8800M GTX, i formatted the biatch because it was running a too slow reboot and i guess that was done to the fact that i installed and reinstalled a lot of drivers not just for the GPU but others as well, the boot time was taking 3min and the overall performance was not quite as expected.
I point the fact that i (before this last format) installed the latest chipset drivers from intel and after that i see on the "Event Viewer" one hardlock.sys error because of driver modification .....
After that the boot time after loading Bluetooth drivers wich were the last on the list (booted with no GUI interface and with OS Boot Information) after that the screen went off witch is normal boot from windows but it stayed as that for like 1 min:S
Now that i just re-formated it boots within <1min that being after log on screen as well(tray icons).
But when running a game in this case FallOut3 the performance is not so good as it was before and before i put all to he max ultra high and max anti-aliasing and max anisotropic filtering, now i use the recomended settings witch are High, anti aliasing 4 and anisotropic filter 8. And now the game is running too slow with this config.
Another question (and pretty **** sorry for the long text :S) witch scores do you guys with the same clevo on windows experience rating score?
I have now:
CPU 5,9
RAM 5,8
Graph: 5,9
Graph Game: 5,8
Primary hard Disk: 5,4
and before format all was 5,9 except for Primary HDD witch i can't get a better score :S

I would not take the WEI score seriously.
Use PCMark and 3DMark to test and benchmark with. -
Everytime you run the WEI you will get different results. sometimes 5.8, sometimes 5.7, sometimes 5.9.
At least for me anyways. -
Nah WEI score is always the same for me (with no driver modification) benchmarks scores are the ones that vary, i will post post bench scores soon as i have em (formatted so...am downloading tem)

Running PCMark Vantage x64 at 1024x768, AA 8, Anisotropic filter 16, and both forced rendering options.
PCMarkSuite 3356 PCMarks
Memories Suite 2694
TV and Movies Suite 3178
Gaming Suite 2023
Music Suite 3353
Communications Suite 4241
Productivity Suite 4149
HDD Test Suite 2568
I do not know how to read the score, don't know if it is what is expected -
gl1tch try one of these http://hosted.filefront.com/DoxLV2Go
they are modded for clevo laptop ,best for games -
Thank you Gangsta i will try 180.44 for vista64 and test em. I wonder where you get a list of those moded drivers for clevo laptops besides filefront?
-
Here are the scores with the Forcware 180.44 provided by gangsta (installed PhysX 1 and 2)
PCMarkSuite 3775 PCMarks
Memories Suite 3657
TV and Movies Suite 3837
Gaming Suite 1995
Music Suite 3341
Communications Suite 4332
Productivity Suite 3685
HDD Test Suite 2618
The overall score was better but some reduction on Gamin Suite and Productivity suite....anyway i don't know what these benchmark tests should reflect but i am runnning Fallout3 way better than i was before.
Many thanks gangstaOne -
The guy who made these drivers upload them on Laptopvideo2go.com but he also use filefront.com this is the link for his directory with modded drivers
http://hosted.filefront.com/DoxLV2Go -
i have some problems with 180 driver version but i use his modded inf from 180.44 for 178.24 and the driver work in Far Cry 2 way better now

Does D900C have BIOS reset button somewhere?
-
What do you mean with reset button to reset all futures to their defaults or ??
-
Could you download GPU-Z, check under the "Sensors" tab and tell us the clock frequencies you can see there?, it might be an issue related with PowerMizer.
-
From Gpu-z:
Gpu Core Clock 200.0Mhz
Gpu MEmory Clock 100.0Mhz
From Cpu-z:

PowerMizer Switch.
It does so by modifying certain registry keys that manage PowerMizer, it requires a reboot / log off for the cards to start working with your desired configuration.
Sorry for the delayed response.
------------------------------
By the way, people, I based my guess on the "Gaming Graphics Score" the OP got at WEI, usually, 8800m GTX's in SLi with PowerMizer issues get 5.8 and not the 5.9 you would expect them to, just as a note in case another problem like this arises, it is a good indicator that can be checked after that the drivers are installed without having to download RivaTuner / nTune / GPU-Z.

Many hanks Aeris i see now the clocks at
core clock 275.0 Mhz
Memory CLock 301.0Mhz
I will post some score as soon as i have the time -
If SLi is on and the clocks are too low, disable SLi, then enable SLi again.
If SLi is off, and the clocks are too low, enable SLi.
Log Off instead of Rebooting if an install / program needs to reboot the computer, it will prevent the cards from clocking down again.
Also, the problem seemed to disappear when I re-formatted and re-installed Vista, then installed the 178.13 drivers from LaptopVideo2Go.com, the stock clock speeds stayed at 799 MHz Memory / 1250 MHz Shader / 500 MHz Core even after 4 full reboots. -
Laptop Cards run full Speed Clocks only in games and other 3d application when you do not use app. like these the driver use Powermizer to downclock the card (to low the temps)
