When I launch programs, open websites, etc., I hear a feedback that lasts a few seconds. It's barely audible but still annoying. I just installed Windows 7 but it did not fix the problem. Realtek driver is installed.

did you disable your sounds for opening windows and such.

try to mute the volume and see if that does anything.

Yes, the sounds are disabled. I also hear them when playing some games(not the default windows games). It doesn't happen when I mute the volume.

No. I'm using earphones. I tried a few different ones and can confirm it's not the earphones either.

edit: it's got worse after switching from xp to 7. The beep won't go away in certain websites like youtube.

You may want to check the Realtek sound manager and make sure that your microphone PLAYBACK volume is completely muted. Sometimes the mic picks up EM interference and causes weird beeps and chirps.

I sometimes get a faint beep from the ODD after I put a DVD in it. Is your beep coming from the speakers?

Yeah. I plugged the earphones in and out to confirm it's not coming from the hard drive.

Sorry for bumping. I wanted to see if there are more people with this problem or some clues as to why this is happening. This is bugging me so much.

I only hear it from my earphones when they are plugged in. How could it be a hard drive?
