I am considering the purchase of a NP9262 and I am wondering what the advantages/disadvantages of selecting Windows Vista 64 vs Vista 32 as my preloaded OS for this system.

I have heard that there might be some driver compatibility issues with Vista 64 and I want to be sure that all of my apps run with this OS without problems. I don't need the 4GB of memory so this is not an issue.

Also, how does Vista 64 improve overall performance over 32-bit Vista? Does my gaming performance improve? What about memory access times and CPU performance?

If your not using 4GB, your not going to see much of a difference. If any at all. Might just be more of a hassle. However, I would greatly recommend going to 4GB. There is a noticeable difference in Vista.

I went with 32, and now that I can see a need for 4GB, I wish I had saved myself the money from upgrading and just went with 64-bit upfront.

i'm currently on 64, and have problems installing drivers, especially printer drivers.. BOTH my printers don't have drivers for vista 64 bit, so do check what drivers are available for you before deciding what os to go for..
and if you don't need the 4gb ram, i highly recommend 32.. 64 is darn strict with signed drivers (tho you could disable that by editing some reg files) i think 64 runs abit faster, but the difference is pretty small and unnoticeable..

Go with 64 bit i say it is better supported now and just about all new hardware and software is fully suported! And dont forget you are not limited to 3GB of ram like 32 bit OS!

Unless there is some specific task that you can not do on 64 (like some fancy device that is not recognized or some program that is not compatible with 64 bit) go with the 64 bit. I have it and I like it.

As far as I've understood, it doesn't matter if you bought the 32- or 64-bit version, the license should be valid for both. That means that if you bought say a Windows Vista Business 32-bit, you can install Windows Vista Business 64-bit instead and use the same license key. I might be wrong here, but this seems to be the case.

The system does come with a Windows Vista 64/32 OS CD and I have been told by Sager that I have the option to install either one after I get the notebook so I believe your right. I just want to start it with Vista 32 for now-I can always install Vista 64 later if I decide to upgrade to 4 GB of memory.
