I ordered 4GB of RAM from Fry's [there was that deal where you can get 4GB RAM for $70 after rebate; $95 before rebate]. Is there anything that I should know before I switch to 64 bit Vista? Driver issues? Software issues?

Programs that I absolutely have to install:

    mIRC
    CCCP
    Adobe CS3
    VC++ 6.0
    Paint.net
    Nero
    7-zip
    Alcohol 120%

    etc etc

You should run a memtest86+ test on the RAM to make sure it`s error free. If for ANY reason there is EVEN 1 error during the test, return the RAM for other ones.
    After that install Vista,since memtest doesn`t run on Vista 64 yet...Nice choice, I have a M570RU myself and I love it :)

Ah yes. I'm mainly worried about driver issues. I wouldn't be, if I could dual boot 32 bit and 64 bit. I should probably just do that :D

To date I haven't had many problems with drivers, in either 32 or 64 bit version. Most programs seem to run just fine. I haven't loaded Alcohol 120 in 64 bit but if I remember right it should work. I know Daemon tools does but DVD43 did not. But it does work under Linux with wine. If you have any other questions just ask.

Vista 64-bit has been pretty solid for me as well, in regards to drivers and software compatibility. I haven't noticed any issues yet with any programs or drivers I've installed. That's not to say that Vista isn't free of any bugs. So far its been good though, I can't wait for Service Pack 1 to come out, hopefully its going to come out early next year.

I'd say just install 64-bit and see how everything goes for you first before you decided to dual boot 64 and 32 bit. 64-bit Vista has gotten a lot better since it was first released and its only going to improve.

One thing my Vista 64 wouldn't do, was install new nVidia drivers from videolaptop2go.
    So I reverted to 32 bit :)
However, if you're happy with stock drivers, everything should be fine :)

I haven't had any problems installing new video drivers. I have been using them since I day I got mine 2 months ago. I have used the ones from laptopvideo2go as well as some of my own modded stuff with no problems. Unless nvidia created it.
