Anyone out there with a Sager NP8662/Clevo M860TU using Windows 7? Do the HDD temps stay at a good level?

I have been doing research on Vista on here as I approach the arrival of my 8662 (and did research prior to ordering) and have read ways to tweak the settinsg in Vista in order to stop it from overworking my HDD so the temps won't be so high...

I was wondering which option would be better...I know a lot of people, if not all, will say Windows 7, but I am curious about a few things, specifically relatiing to the NP8662.

Are the HDD temps fine running on Windows 7, or do tweaks having to also be done in order to lower them, similar to Vista? If so, what tweaks should be applied?

Also, will anything that is compatible with Vista 64-bit work perfectly fine on Windows 7? This might be the dumbest of my questions, I am mostly sure anything that runs on Vista will run on Windows 7, but just want to clarify.

    Thanks :)

Yes, HDD temps are fine... And it has been fine. HDD heat is NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT a common issue. Some people come here because of heat and there are loads of people worrying about it and posting why/how/etc which is the reason why this became such a "common" issue.

    Yes I use Win7.

    So definately Win7 over Vista?

I hope its not too confusing, I am a longtime XP user and pretty much still getting used to Vista.

Why not just keep using XP until Windows 7 is released? I took advantage of the $49 upgrade offer so I'm just going to keep using XP and Win 7 RC until Oct.

I have a different Sager. My temps went up across the board when I switched from Vista to 7. That said my temps are still ok and I'm getting considerably better performance. As long as your laptop isn't prone to heat problems you should be fine.
