Hello fellow notebook enthusiasts!
I'm moving overseas to Japan this week, the voltage over there is lower than the US (100V, 50Hz). Will the different voltage cause any problems for my 170HM? If so, what sort of equipment do I need to purchase to make sure I'm getting the right voltage? Or do I get a special PSU for that country?
Thanks in advance!

Well the plug socket will be different so you will need an adaptor to convert it and they come with a variable so that it will run on the voltage depending where you are travelling ie Europe, Eastern, Western etc.
On the brick itself it will state the voltage it can switch between for instance my P170HM has an input of 100v-240v so as long as yours states 100v as well you will be fine.
I had my Asus laptop running on a US Brick with a European adaptor in the UK and it ran fine. It just switched to UK voltage. -
I already got the pin adaptor and looks like my brick also supports 100-240V and 50-60 Hz but just wanted to make sure.
Thanks! -

This is true for a vast majority of electronics. If it comes with a DC brick (transformer), it's probably already setup to deal with 100-240v. It's rather convenient that way (and cheaper to produce). The only devices that really need a voltage converter are those that run on AC or don't have a brick at all.
