    Hello,

I'm posting here as a last resort. I purchased a W150HN from Eurocom in Canada.

However I've been encountering an issue.

When the AC is plugged into the laptop, randomly and recurring, it will think it is unplugged (a few times an hour) for less than a second. Which produces the following "side effects".

    1. Windows 7, The display dims, and goes back up, as per my power options for when the system is unplugged.
    2. Ubuntu - The system takes note that "AC Unplugged" for a few seconds.
    3. With the machine off, and plugged in. Two LEDs turn on in the front. According to my manual:

While plugged in and off, I've seen AC/Power and Battery both turn off completely, and turn back on within a second.

    --

I've confirmed this in a bunch of ways, and I have produced some logs. In Windows' case, when AC is unplugged a WM_POWERBROADCAST is sent out by Windows to all open programs. I used PMMon to capture the following:

    Log 1:

    Log 2:

See attachment for an even bigger log.

Keep in mind these are all WITH THE AC PLUGGED IN. Keep in mind the intervals between the logs for ACLineStatus.

Any help would be greatly and urgently appreciated. I am prepared to get a refund tomorrow and try another model if this is not explainable.

The laptop has not been in my posession as I gave it to Eurocom to find the issue, which they say does not exist. I disagree, this does not occur on any other laptop I own.

I do not know what BIOS version I have however if it needs updating (specifically because of an erorr such as this), a push in the right direction would be needed.

If this is an engineering flaw, has anyone else had this happen?

    Thanks,
    Sam

My old hp laptop had that problem after i bought it for 3 years and 2 months, I'm pretty sure it's hardware problem with my laptop. It was either the AC adapter became unstable or bad connection at the DC-in jack.

I don't know what is the case in ur laptop, u may consider above situations.

If it's not having any random power problems when running on battery, it's probably a faulty power supply. It could be more serious and related to the charging circuits on the motherboard though. Do you have random shutdowns if you run it on AC with no battery installed? If that's the case, it's definitely the power supply. If it doesn't have any issues without the battery, it could be the motherboard or battery itself.

I'd see if your retailer could send you a replacement power supply if you have problems with the battery removed. Otherwise, you may need to RMA the whole thing.

There is none of these issues running on battery only. Additionally there are not these issues running on AC only.

Power supply was replaced from 90W to 120W, happened with both unfortunately.

I have a feeling it is related to the motherboard, some internal component.

My issue was that I was being told "this is characteristic of your model", meaning that it happened with all W150s. If I can confirm this is not the case (as in nobody else here has experienced this), I will attempt further to a complete RMA.

I will mention to see if I can look at a changed battery also. That would let us know if it was the battery or the motherboard.

edit: I have returned the laptop. I'll spend the extra for a Lenovo.
