Hi, I got a computer based on the clevo W150HRM. The power adapter is a liteon PA-1131-07. And it's big, bulky, and heavy enough to use as a murder weapon.

Is there any good quality alternatives around? Searching for W150HRM finds me nothing, searching for example amazon for laptop power adapter gives me 315,000 results. I'm a bit unsure on where to start. Especially considering clevo has a ton of different models.

It's big because your laptop uses lots of watts, so it results a big adapter. I have a 180 watt psu (power supply unit) for my np8150. My 6970m gpu eats 75 watts while processor is 55 watts, display and ssd, ram etc is other 30 something

so basically, if you get an other smaller psu with lower wattage supply, your laptop wont be supplied enough with the electricity to power your laptop at best performance.

This is a picture of my power brick. Is yours comparable? If it isn't, it isn't so bad. XD.

As for your power brick being big, what CPU/GPU do you have in it? Is it that M15x in your sig? If so, then yes, like hello!'s machine, yours will pull a lot of power. Good luck.

I was hoping to find some higher quality parts, and smaller size for the power adapter. Maybe something that can keep me going, and doesn't charge much if any while there's load on the system. That should be plenty.

And it's not the m15x, that's my old rig. The new one is a small company in norway that builds clevo based systems. It's a sandy bridge i7-2720QM and a nvidia GT555.

Googled around a bit to find alternate power supplies. And found this review:
Review Schenker XMG A501 Notebook (Clevo W150HRM) - Notebookcheck.net Reviews

Which lists weight : 2.73 kg Power Supply: 0.73 kg. My spec sheet says 2.6kg including battery. So a weight of 2kg for the computer, and 0.73kg for the power cord and adapter seems pretty accurate..

    //EDIT:
Looking around, this is the one I got : http://usedpchub.com/uph/laptop/46-57800-17161/LITE-ON-PA-1131-07-AC-Power-Adapter.html
Googling around it says 135W and 120W.

When I had a system based on the similar W150HRQ chassis, I ordered an extra AC adapter that was 90W, and it worked perfectly. I probably wouldn't run the laptop at maximum 24/7 on a 90W but for web surfing and occasional gaming, it didn't skip a beat.

You might want to look into one of those instead of another 120W.

Where did you order from? I'm having some problems searching around on the big sites. As I dont know the names of the standard plugs. I don't wanna get one with the wrong plug size. Some sites say the pictures might not always match the product being sold.

If I could find a site where I can filter on model, and have that filter actually work. I'd be quite happy ;)

u can search it in ebay
actually, i think 90w is enough, but 120~135w is better.

    A 120W what? Power brick?

Also a battery will only charge at a constant speed apparently; as long as your power brick can feed it the requisite power, it'll charge normally.

The wattage of the power brick is mainly there to push enough power to suffice the video card and the processor etc. Batteries won't push enough power to both.

Can anyone expand on what to search for specifically in addition to the 90w for the right adapte? I.e. plug size or a mainstream model laptop that uses the same size?.

I'm looking for something a little easier to travel with for my NP5165. Don't do hardly any gaming, just web surfing and the occasional photo touchup in adobe. Anyone see any issues running a good 90w? And what signs/issues arise if it doesn't provide enoughenough power?

im interested in getting a small powersupply as well for using in class, as i dont want to carry the 180w brick with me all the time. my machine uses 19v, does anyone know how many watts the battery can output, thats the wattage im aiming for with a psu.

basically the battery can only charge at a rate of around 20 watts and if you have the settings on powersave or at least nothing cpu or gpu intensive, it will only drain anywhere from 20 to 40 watts, ive seen mine go as low as 20, and i have a 485m.

I tried the Kensington K33404 (90W, 4.74A). Tested it for about one hour with a bit of surfing and charging the battery, so far no problem and the adapter didn't became hot. Untill a decent, smaller replacement comes on the market with EU plug. This seems a nice travel adapter for light work.
