    Hello all,

I have a W230SS with an i7 4910mq and I want to overclock it a little. I successfully updated the BIOS to PremaMod 1.1. Could you please let me know any overclocking settings with this BIOS?

    Cheers

Every chip is different, set a target clock speed (say 3.5ghz) see what voltage it's stable at and see if that's too hot to fully load or leaves room.

His default clock speed should be 3.7GHz on all cores with a 4910MQ if I remember correctly; so that's actually a downclock.

He said to set all the cores to 3.5GHz and see if they run cool enough. If they do, then start slowly increasing to the stock clocks (3.7) and if that's cool enough, you can overclock from there. The W230SS is not exactly a monster of a cooling machine, so you'd be playing it by ear, so to speak.

Yes, as I said, every chip is different. This means that there is no magic set of settings for everyone to use. Not only that but what is stable can also depend on cooling (variations in fans, heatsink construction, paste application and evironment temperatures cause differences) and even the VRMs on the motherboard and where in their bellcurve of quality your parts are in.

The amount of variables in each system is pretty astronomical when you think about it so each sample needs to be tested individually.
