    Hi,

I'm looking for a new laptop to use for school and gaming. The W230ST looked to a good match however the inconsistent fan profile has turned me off. Does anyone know if there is a fix for it or if there are any other laptops that are simliar to the W230ST?

    Thanks!

Profiles has been fixed for me with Prema's modified BIOS + EC. The fans are still loud under full load though. Other similar laptop is Gigabyte P34G.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

So with the bios and fix, the laptop fans won't just randomly max out even at a idle state? I'll be bringing this to class with me at times and I don't want the laptop to make a loud noise out of nowhere.

Yes, my laptop is silent in idle and during light tasks like browsing/word processing. It is loud when gaming or heavily taxing CPU. I'd recommend doing a proper thermal repaste yourself to achieve the best idle temperatures.
