Hello, I have two questions about my w230ss.

    1. How do you reinstall windows 8.1 on the w230ss?

It recently started freezing on me, so I would like to reinstall windows to see if that fixes it, but I'm not sure how to do it. If the computer did come with windows on a DVD, I don't remember where I put it, and the computer doesn't have a DVD drive anyway! The recovery options in windows both ask for external media. I also don't know if there are specific ways to reinstall clevo drivers. There must be instructions for this somewhere...?

    2. Is there anyway to set the fan speed at a constant rate other than max?

The fan throttling up and down sporadically is still a big problem for me. If there was a way to set the fan speed at something like 50%, it seems like that could solve the problem of it jumping to 80% for 3 seconds only to jump back down to 15% (I'm guessing at those numbers. You get the idea)

Thanks to anyone who can give some quick pointers, especially to the first question

If you ordered the computer with Windows pre installed then you should have also got the disc. You will have to take a look for it becuase you need it to reinstall Windows. If you just cant find then then you can create a disc, or even a USB boot drive by the instructions here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media. For the drivers you want to install the chipset drivers first, then GPU drivers, the the rest can be done in any order. Its easiest just to install them in order.

There is no way to manually control the fans beside max fan speed. If the fans are kicking up sporadically you may want to open up the bottom of the computer and clean out the vents and fans with a can of compress air. That may help you temps say lower which results in the fans not kicking up to keep temps down.
