My friend Marion, a cute french lady (maybe if I could fix her laptop...), has a Clevo W330su2, she has been having problems with the bios setting going back to the default when the main battery dies, but this behavior is not consistent.
I have changed the CMOS battery two times and there is still this problem, it's difficult to troubleshoot. CMOS battery is supposed to last at least a few years but these batteries, brand new and of good quality brand (energizer), seem not be working and allow saving the bios settings. So at every boot she has to enter the bios and change the UEFI setting to enable because the default is disabled. After this the clock is always out of date, which shows that the cmos battery is not working properly. I have read that quick discharge of CMOS battery might be due to a faulty board.
TL,DR - two main problems
- why does the cmos battery discharge so quickly or why bios settings are not stored?
- is there a way to flash the bios so uefi boot is enabled by default? She has the latest bios 1.03.03

Check the CMOS battery socket is making proper contact with the battery. Check for corrosion, if found, clean it.

Does the CMOS reset if the CMOS battery is fresh, and the laptop battery is removed?

The battery normally lasts several years.

I wanted to see if the battery is shorted internally, and causing a drain.
W330 bios settings revert to default, uefi disabled, possibly cmos related
