    Hi,
The Clevo Sevice Manual does not mention i7-3840QM or i7-3940XM as possible CPUs.
Wouldn't these work in this Clevo model?
    Thanks
    Tom

they should, only concern would be power delivery and cooling. im guessing at stock clocks it shouldnt be a problem at all, but dont expect to be overclocking the 3940XM without it tripping the PSU or overheating / throttling ;)

edit: im not sure about this, but another point could be BIOS compatibility. depending on whether or not the 3840QM and 3940XM have different cpu microcodes from their 3820QM and 3920XM predecessors....

The 3920XM is not officially supported either, the 3820qm was the highest officially supported model IIRC.

The 3840QM should also be fine but 3920XM is really not worth it, the laptop won't be able to cool it or power it properly with the stock PSU!!

not necessarily, at stock clocks its only 10W more than the non xm models :) just overclocking would be quite limited ^^

Unofficially then it should work though you would need programs for overclocking of course.

Don't expect maximum value/$$ in this laptop if you go that far.

Maybe stick with 3840QM if you want.
