    Hi,

We have a W55SU laptop (PC Specialist branded) on which the screen has gone.

When I say gone, it's not physically smashed but displays largely garbage. You can prod and flex the screen and see pieces of the interface, if you know what I mean.

I'm wondering if it's worth trying to fix? I've seen replacement screens for around the £25 mark but I fear it's not the screen but rather the communication with it. Is that likely to be a ribbon cable or some such?

    Any advice appreciated.

Maybe post some pics? Could be a loose cable of course.

Neither the screen nor the LCD video cable are very expensive. The labor on replacing either is not so bad either, though the cable can sometimes be a little more of a hassle than the screen (depends on how its routed through the system).

It appears that both ends of the cable are accessible by taking off the bottom cover and the A panel (lid) to check if it's loose, but that actually replacing it is a more involved disassembly.

Here's a poor quality video I took of it booting up, prodding the bottom of the screen casing periodically to show the effect it has:

Still looks like a cable or the screen itself.

Well Amazon look like they're selling the screens for about £25 so it might be worth a punt at that price.

At that price definitely worth trying a screen
