kobalt does it again
-
So do Kobalt win a jar of cookies then for coming top of a one-vote opinion poll?
-
better not as they might stop working so they could eat them and as they are ever so busy we wouldnt want that would we.
-
hmmmmm ... if i configure my "preferred" system the prize tags would be following (exactly same components): Kobalt: ~2110 eur, MySN: ~2180 eur, DevilTech: ~2295 eur & Guru: ~2054 eur
With those options I would order from Kobalt (most likely) ... but that can totally different if you compare prizes next week -
the price changes every day due to the fluctuation of the exchange rate with the pound.
-
The pound is going down all the time...and every day is a better day to buy Kobalt!!
@seropi
How did u get Guru price??? There is still no W860 in their website... -
Beware that the credit card companies use their own rates that are less generous =/ -
keyboard layouts availability still varies a lot unfortunatly.
-
I updated the list with the new prices (no changes unless GBP still dropping a little) and introducing only 3 categoryes of prices instead of 2: I realized that the upgrade from 260M to 280M is around 60E, putting Deviltech in the same Category of mySN and Cyber-System.
Still waiting for the W860 notebook solutions from Notebook Guru, Overclocker UK, Novatech, XXODD, BTO Notebooks, Rock and DPC Tech...I hope they will be out newxt week... -
I can tell you that Overclockers have probably only started to consider the option and will prossibly take a month to get around to the ordering process, let alone delivery.
Novatech however are normally pretty quick to get new models in, I wonder what's taking them so long? -
I updated the list adding also Notebook Guru (online from today!)...their price was in the middle between Category A and Category B, but it was putted as second entry of Category A, b/c they have an english website...
Yesterday I also placed my order at Kobalt (G860), so I'll continue to update this thread until my new notebook will arrive (after I'll not have enough time)...maybe I'll find time to post a mini personal review
-
congrats on your purchase shavenrat.
might be a good idea to add all the 5 main models available at each reseller as it does get confusing for a lot of people.
also dont forget the new G870 17" was released on the config page at kobalt. -
@MrDJ
I opened this thread only to follow the release of the W860 I was interested in...
I could follow all the bigger European resellers, but I heard there is no Moderator in the Clevo subforum...
Do you think the new members will be helped to choose a notebook based on the "New and Improved European Clevo Resellers 3.0 FTW"???? NIECR for friends -
Gophn is the moderator here and Chaz is admin.
it was just a thought about adding all the varying model names. no worrys. -
ops, I totally misunderstood you...sorry!!!
-
I updated the page with all the different notebooks rebranded names...
Moreover the link will send you directly to the W860 page of the main websyte!!! Enjoy!!! -
[Netherlands]
Well, it appears XXODD has also added the 860cu to their assortiment.
Here is the link: http://xxodd.nl/index.php?p=artikel&ID=466&e=1
Quite expensive imo. 720QM, 4gB RAM, 320gb 7200rpm, 2 year pick up & return, Vista HP 64bit and a gtx 260 would set me back 1.833,00 ($2684,06)
That, while a Alienware m15x with the same specs and service would only cost 1.656,93 -
@Dodgie
Thanks for the link!!
+1 Rep.
I configured the notebook, and by price, it put himself as king of Category C (not very good position) thanks to the FHD screen.
I also update the Kobalt price with GBP instead of EUR, so I don't have to change it every day due to change rate variation -
I'll also post the link to another site dealing in XXODD when he adds it to his assortiment. This one is usually around 50 cheaper then XXODD.nl so I reckon it's worth mentioning ^^
-
Update:
Novatech is showing the W860 within their game notebooks, but the configurator is buggy (no i7 and no 260M/280M), so I can't configure now a laptop...
Soon more updates!!! -
Configurator is buggy???
You obviously don't know Novatech. They normally don't allow for a customisation ala Kobalt. They'll give you two choices of hardware, that's it. -
Right now if you try to customize one (they are called X70 CA), you can choose between those CPU: P8700, T9600, T9900...obviously they forgot to update them to i7; also the picture are of the wrong notebook... -
Updated:
New Kobalt G860 Price withour launch offer(still the best of them all).
New Entry: Novatech - GTX 280M too pricey (more than 200GBP) and 1080p not avalaible.
Enjoy

@ Shavenrat
Check out this portuguese reseller: WSI - http://wsi-bg.com
It´s possible to customize the laptops, although you have to call them or e-mail them.
The 2 pre-configured models are cheaper than Kobalt. -
You are right, with the same configuration the WSI W860CU is slightly cheaper than the Kobalt one (but Kobalt mount GTX 280M where WSI gear the GTX 260M).
Pity their only configuration [820QM, 260M, 500GB 7200RPM, 1600x900, Blue-Ray] is too much different from my ideal configuration [720QM, 280M, 500GB 5400RPM, 1920x1080, DVD-RW] that I can't insert them in my W860CU European reseller list....
Pity my Portuguese is a little rusty (and it means I don't know any word in portuguese) and I can't find where to email them to ask the price for a customized laptop. -
From Portugal, you also have http://www.inforlandia.pt/catalogo/index.php?cat=191000
Here you have the mail from wsi http://wsi-bg.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83&Itemid=89 (botttom) -
)
But: Inforlandia doesn't sell W860CU (maybe it does and I'm totally high).
-
You should recalculate the prices. NotebookGuru's price isnt 15XX euro's anymore, the configuration you posted is currently 1694 euro's over at Notebook Guru.
-
With this new update the Notebook Guru drop in the next category while Kobalt gain again King of the Hill price! -
its difficult to compare across europe. lets say for example a german reseller was doing a special offer of say 200 euros below the lowest priced on your list.
who would go for it?
great if you can speak german or be an expert at using bable fish translator but what if you buy it and it starts causing problems. comunication could be difficult even if they had broken english.
to be honest and imo i would rather pay the highest price and have good tech support on the phone in my native tongue which is english.
your still doing a great job with the list shavenrat for all the new to clevo members.
me thinks you deserve another rep +1 -
Actually I can tell you that most of the European resellers speak English at a very good level. I also initially wanted to buy from Kobalt but ended up buying from someone else in the EU because they were 150 euro cheaper. In the end they've proved to be good resellers and dealt with the issues that I had in a professional way. The only thing that sucks in EU is the shipping costs in case you have to ship the system back to them, they offer EU wide warranty but ... that doesn't fully cover shipping costs.
When I had the Dell and I was travelling from one country to another, my warranty would be valid wherever I would go and even though I got the system from US, when I was in UK I still got the technician to come home and fix my laptop. Wish Clevo would have such support service, but I guess they never will...
Edit: shavenrat, can you also quote the GBP prices in EURO, just make a rough estimate, it's easier to compare prices using a single currency.
Also if you can put the prices with and without VAT that would be really nice. -
^^i stand corrected
-
I just updated the first page with a rough estimation of 1GBP = 1.1EUR for the UK's resellers.
When I'll have some spare time (so while following some boring lesson) I'll update the prices adding the without VAT
-
1507 GBP = 1679.5515 EUR
