This might just be a stupid question but i e-mailed XoticPC about my fan noise problem and i also e-mailed my Serial number, they replied back to me saying that my motherboard doesn't support the i5 or i7 series it only supports Core 2 Quad which i find that hard to believe since i opened up CPU-Z and it showed the motherboard socket type as PM55.

Also this laptop is not even 1 year old, so is this true or did XoticPC mess up?

Also, my last BIOS update was on 03/09/2010, should i update?

Yeh, they're incorrect. The W860CU does support mobile i7. The 620M is a mobile i7 CPU.

    They must've made some mistake.

That i7-620M is pretty good evidence that the mobo supports i7 processors. LOL.

Alright great, that's what i thought. I was just hoping Clevo didn't do the same thing with the M860TU -> M860ETU.

Thanks for the help, i'll see if i can e-mail a different XoticPC rep for my fan issue lol.

I found your email, you were asking for i5 support on your system. (Which the earlier versions of your system, which you have, did not support the i5-i7 Dual Core) I am sorry if there was a miss-interpretation of your system only supporting the i7.

    Isn't the i7 620M a dual-core i7 CPU?

Perhaps I've misunderstood something, I assumed his system had an i7 620M due to his sig.

That's why I found it odd that his system would only support the quad-core i-series.

The early versions of this motherboard officially only supported i7 QC. (Also as Sager has confirmed)
