    Hello all!

    I own the Clevo of my sig since november 2010. I always found strange that when all cores are being used, each speed never goes beyong 1867MHz. Is this supposed to happen? I have been reading and I saw that it's supposed to be 2.0GHz. I run OCCT, Prime95 and all that and it's the same. Never goes beyond that point. Does this make any impact in performance? Is this even normal?

    You could check your power options settings > advanced > Processor power management > Maximum processor state > and see if its at 100%

    What is the native clock speed of the CPU and what is the turbo boost speed? It's meant to be approximate; you won't always see the kind of speeds that are advertised (this goes with any computer component).

    820QM = 1.73 GHz

    Turbo bins = 2/2/8/10 (x133mhz) for 4core/3core/2core/1core

    So the max you would see is 2ghz with 4 cores active.

    However the first gen core I series was notorious for not reaching maximum turbo amounts and hitting into their TDP limits. In a power hungry test like prime95 I would be glad of seeing any turbo.

    Yep, I used CC and Prime95 and I can't reach it. Neither with any games. Maybe it's that the problem?

    That is completely normal when all 4 cores are in use. 2.0GHz default with four cores was on i7-920XM.

    If you want to see a speed increase I would go for a cheap i7 920xm I run it at 3.4ghz on 1 and 2 core turbo and 3 core is at 3.2ghz and 4 is 2.4ghz or 2.6ghz.
    I have a modified bios where I can increase TDP and TDC so at max load it consumes up to 72w instead of the 55w (and yours does only use 45w :p) so maybe you have to mod your cooling to run higher speeds.
    But you can also do it with Throttlestop in windows.

    Offtopic: I have once run a 3dmark vantage with the 4 core turbo at 3.46ghz and got 20k score on cpu alone, and power usage went over 82watts lol

    Use ThrottleStop and set multiplier to Turbo for the best turbo boost experience.
    Works like a charm.
    My w370et is designed to throttle the CPU when the GPU is in turbo, but with turbo boost I can make both of them run at their rated turbo speeds.

    Yes the original i7s need help clocking up properly, it's not your machine in particular.
