    Has anyone tried to install XP on either of the above (dual boot etc), are there any drivers that are both system critical and Win7/Vista only?

    (bump) anyone tried a dual boot with anything other than Win 7? Or did God not intend this machine to be used with Linux?

    I have installed XP 32-bit and Win7 Ultimate (64-bit) for a dual boot with no issues.

    I have all drivers installed on XP fine, no devices missing.

    It will be up with my review.

    My W870CU dual boots Win7 and Gentoo Linux. All of the main components work fine under Linux, which include GPU, Ethernet, WiFi, and Sound. Since I run KDE 4.3, (Linux kernel 2.6.32), I haven't tested bluetooth yet, (I actually don't use it under either OS for anything), and it's my desktop machine, so it's connected to separate keyboard, mouse, monitor, and webcam, (Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000), so I haven't needed to test if the Webcam works under Linux either yet. I haven't tested the memory card reader, fingerprint/TPM, or firewire hardware under Linux either. I imagine I'll get around to testing the other components when I need to, otherwise it runs great. It even seems to me that under Linux it idles a degree or two cooler, (CPU-45, GPU-40), than Win7, but that could be just an impression. (It also sits on a Zalman NC-2000 all the time)

    For my Win7 install, I used the current release of 64 bit Pro, and the only device that did not have a Windows drivers automatically installed, was the JMicron memory card controller, (and of course the nVidia GPU). What I did, instead of using the Clevo provided drivers, was install these drivers;

    JMicron JMB38X Driver R1.00.34_WHQL
    nVidia Notebook Release 186.81 WHQL

    I also installed the following drivers instead of just using the stock Windows 7 provided drivers, or using the Clevo provided drivers;

    INF Update Utility - Primarily for IntelĀ® 5, 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets
    IntelĀ® PRO/Wireless and WiFi Link Drivers-Only for Windows 7
    Realtek HDA Codec Vista, Windows7 Driver(32/64 bits) Driver only (Executable file) R2.39

    Finally I also installed the following Clevo provided drivers;

    Touchpad driver for VISTA and Windows 7
    IEEE1394 driver for VISTA and Windows 7

    I specifically didn't install anything to do with the Fingerprint reader, or TPM module, (Infineon software), because I don't use it. Windows 7 installed the correct Windows driver for the fingerprint reader anyway. I also noted that there isn't any Hotkey software for Windows 7 at the Clevo driver download page, but I wouldn't have installed it anyway, as all of the Fn-Key combinations work well under Windows 7 as is. Finally I also did not install the Clevo provided BisonCam software and application because I found out that it installs a component called BisonHK.exe, that runs at system boot. It looks like all it's doing is setting up a Snapshots Desktop folder, but since it's not documented, you can never be sure.

    Good Luck..

    Wow, thanks to both of you :) -the official line from Clevo was "no, 7 only, ... and we're not quite sure why". Good to know we can use what we like, and are not in fact locked out of any OS's.

    What do you tell BIOS is the OS (or does that not matter)?
