    Hey people,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a cooling unit for this laptop? I have placed an order for this laptop and have no idea if the fans intake air or blow out? so a little confused as to which cooler I should get if anyone can recommend :)

    Thanks

    Mikoyan

    Hi Mikoyan
tbh ive not heard of any heat issues with the 870 yet.
Take a look HERE at the nbr coolers page and HERE at the nbr cooling central which will give you ideas of what maximum temps will be.

just out of interest where did you order from?

If it's similar to the W860CU, then the fans are located to the top left and right of the laptop's back. That should help ya in finding a cooler. It does blow downwards as well as towards the back.

Could you post a pic of the bottom? That should help us determine which cooler would be most effective

I have a zalman nc2000 which fits it perfectly. TBH though I only use it if I have it on my lap or bed. If the laptop is on a flat surface the temps are great!

Not /thread, if you read through the thread instead of posting your favorite product you would notice he is in the UK and the product isnt sold there. Intuition > Favorites.

    To OP

The Silverstone nb01b should be an alright choice, fans towards the back etc. It may be a bit slim.

That is a 15.4" on the cooler, and if I am not mistaken yours is a 15.6" but its worth considering the cooler as an option

Sorry, I didnt notice it was a 17"

You could consider a Zalman NC2000 backwards and raising the rear or putting the notebook low.

No problem X2P thanks for the recommendation I seem to think the Zalman NC2000 will be a pain to clean or can you open it and clean the fans..I prefer it being easier like the Coolermaster variants.

I hear the 2500 or 3000 will be out soon..trouble is how long is the wait doh!

The Zalman is an escellent cooler, I'm sure. It's just that it don't really fit these high end Clevo's, with their main air intakes towards the rear of the chassis. The Zalman's vents blows most of the air a bit further to the front end of the bottom plate.
So your suggestion of turning the Zalman front to back could well work ... it would look a bit silly though, and the front of the laptop would get very high above the desk top.

I bought a Zalman myself for my D900F, and found that it doesn't really add much coolness to it. At most a degree or two, perhaps. The D900F also has some passive air inlets further to the front, and I guess the Zalman helps a bit cooling that area. I use it anyway, for practical reasons - it raises the laptop at the back, giving a more comfortable working angle.

The NXZT Cryo LX is the right cooler for these machines, really. I'll get one myself, sooner or later. I am sure a dealer delivering internationally could be found somewhere. If not, ask the dealer you got it from to order some in. Couldn't hurt.
