    I've just received my W870 Back from "repairs". the fkers have sent me back a system that now has;

Flashing Caps/NumLocks, and shuts down after about 15 seconds.
I've tried removing the battery and booting up, same thing happens, shuts down after boot up.
    Any suggestions?
I would send it back but they say, "after the new year" ARGH!!

Just constant problems with this machine whether cosmetic and now this. ARGH help?

That sucks, it sounds like you just got a bum unit. I would video the laptop doing these things and attach it to an email that demanded a replacement.

Re-sat what I could, ram, hard drive, wasn't sure about wifi, but looked as if it wasn't out of place.
Anyway rebooted, same problem. Tried different ram sticks one at a time, same thing.

Although I did try windows memory diagnostics and this is where it got mental, started flashing the caps and num and now BEEPING constantly, until around 22 percent of the diagnostic it cut out. but didn't show any errors.

So any ideas? Have they broken my ram?

UPDATE... Not RAM, tried good sticks from a different laptop and same problem.
    blah

Here's the thing: You have a warranty. You can get a replacement now, I would do that before it's too late; that's the whole point of having it. If you try to fix it yourself, you're going to end up voiding your warranty and then you'll be stuck.

Sounds to me like your board is bad.

Open up the laptop, remove all the heatsinks and make sure they're fastened on there properly with good quality paste. If the system is starting up properly and then beeping/flashing afterwards, it could be shutting down from overheating.

The fan for the GPU isn't kicking in, temperature gets to 55 celsius and cuts out.
I've got a GTX280m, I'm not really familiar with the whole set up.
But are these connectors in the right places?

where the missing connector it says VGA next to it.

Glad it was a simple fix in the end!

Pretty stupid mistake for an SI to make though, as it does say VGA in big writing with a box around the connector... (service manual pp.20)

Lol they didn't plug the fan in. you think they'd turn it on before they return it to see if it worked. Our at least let it run for more than a couple seconds.

They did plug the fan in, just into the wrong header, they used the spare header for a fan that was never used - hence no power.
