your welcome.
i try to get them on the forum as quick as i can but was at work when they went live. was beaten on the gaming thread this time -
I made some tests on Unigine Heaven benchmark... The results are LOWER than with the previous 295.73 drivers and EVEN WORSE it produces more heat on the graphic card:
New 296.10 (Max temperature 83C)
Previous 295.73 (Max temperature 79C)
I'm not pleased with these drivers... but I will give it a chance by playing some games today and tomorrow, if they don't provide any increase in performance I will go back to 295.73. -
Hi everyone: Mubay Keep us posted on the performance differences with the new NVIDIA update and the 295 version.
-
thats interesting. will keep an eye on other threads that have them posted on.
-
Ok so... until now I have tested some games including Blade and Soul and the new Alan wake:
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/51OLEPQIM7s?version=3&hl=es_MX&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/51OLEPQIM7s?version=3&hl=es_MX&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width='853' height="480" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
My previous tests were right the temperature on the card increase with these drivers (even just after cleaning my fans). For most games its just 1 or 2 degrees but for benchmark software it can be up to a 4C increase >.<
I haven't been able to perceive any performance gain on this drivers. Perhaps the safer bet for people that play a lot is to stay on 295.73 for now.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Thanks for the testing Mubay.
We will run our Furmark testing here to confirm what you are seeing as well.
Has anyone else come up with what Mubay is showing? -
Ohh no there a temperature spike. I guess I will update after I get my new CPU and my computer cleaned out.
@mubay no me cuentes que sabes espanol. De donde eres? -
for me they were 2-3% degrees cooler and about 1-2 points lower in 3dmark 11 than 295.73, so they are basically the same.
however i like that it keeps my laptop slightly cooler. -
I played some of my oldies like COD black ops and Pangya online, There was no difference on the max temperature for both games (68C Pangya and 70C for Black ops).
I'm guessing they did something to the ambient occlusion and other DX11 features since my temperatures only increased for DX11 supported games.
At any rate these drives certainly show a very small decrease on the framerate (1 to 2%), I plan to wait a bit and see if they release something soon, if not I will go back to 295.73 ^^
PS @jav2008: Yeah, I'm from Mexico xD~ Claro que hablo español -
@mubay: I didn't know hahaha.
@trvelbug: I am a little confused with your statement, since I don't know if you have the 295 or the 296 installed. -
296.10 is 2-3 degrees cooler and about 1-2 points lower in 3dmark 11 than 295.73, so they are basically the same.
however i like that it keeps my laptop slightly cooler. -
I am not seeing higher temperatures with these and performance is great in Skyrim, 60 fps most areas inside and out at high settings.
-
@Trvelbu: Thanks for the clarification.
-
Yeah, it stays about 3-5(!)° cooler - for example highest temp on Vantage before was 82°, now it´s about 77°! 3DMARK11 stays 2° cooler... DIRT3 runs 3° cooler and so.
Otherwise I don´t see much difference, but the temperature deal is great! -
Okay, so, we have tested the latest drivers using an MSI GT783 with the GTX580M card.
We could find no observable difference between the nVidia 295.73 and the 296.1 drivers in terms of temperatures.
We were using FurMark 3D 1.9.2 for our test.
Sorry for the delayed posting, it has been rather busy around here lately.
