I just got a call from Sager (I ordered from them as opposed to Xotic). Placed my order mon 8/26 (yesterday). Knowing there was a potential delay with the 9800 GTX (End of August estimate).

Well, I just got a call today from the sales guy I ordered from. Said the machine will be shipping in next 1 or 2 days! Since I am in Cali like Sager, I can optimistically expect this thing by Fri 8/29. But I am trying not to get too excited and setting my hopes too high. Even next mon/tue would be great.

    System ordered:
    NP9262

Just spoke with Brad over at xotic and he made mention that the 9800M GTX would be released "extremely soon"

So looks like were finally getting somewhere.

Congrats, the 9800M GTX is supposed to be fast. Wow, I wonder how the 9800M GTX performs. Are you going to do any benchmarks when it comes?

Honestly, I'm sure its gonna be really good but when you're coming from a Radeon Mobility 9700, the 9800m GT looks like a godsend I CANNOT complain about. :D

I want to see those SLI benchmarks and watch the card destroy Crysis though. :)

my laptop is an Insprion 9100, and it gets hot, been like this from the day i got it. i wanted to ask u do u have the same problem, i want to know if its the card, i always suspected the p4 3.2Ghz desktop chip in this laptop..

Yes, the Radeon 9700 is a powerful contender, I can play COD4 on low to medium settings with no issue. 4 years after the card was made, that's pretty good.

Got a Toshiba p35 here. Let me put it to you this way. I can't play games without the AC being on, its actually become habit, if I'm going to play a game, I automatically go to put the AC on.

Otherwise the fans kick in seriously and my keyboard gets extremely hot, there was once a time the laptop would shut down but that was due to dust (didn't know too much about laptops when I first bought this).

I would love to see the comparison these guys are speaking of with the m860tu. I'll know in a few days. :)

This is exactly whats happening to me right now, i dont need the Ac, the weather is ok, but i have to turn and keep close otherwise the laptop is getting hot. i spent some time before in dessert so it caught some dust too. Also i have a desktop processor makes things worse.
I tried Cod4 and it runs on low to medium setting.

This is why i was considering the new Ati, u see i wasnt into checking cards and didnt know that Nvidia had all this lead from the time i got my laptop. However i am very warry of heat. it really slows down the whole computer...

I think you should consider a notebook cooler since you are getting a new system. I thought about buying one for this laptop but I decided that I would wait til I replace it to invest in one, as luck would have it, I'm getting one with the warranty on my system. Right now Nvidia has the upper hand. Before I had my laptop, my desktop before had Nvidia. So it'll be like visiting my old friend to see how its been going since my absence :)

P.S. Actually when we got our laptops ATI was kicking tail, they were ahead but by a small margin, competition was good. I don't know, I think since the AMD aquisition their bite has become less intense as most people had feared.

Yes, I plan on doing whatever benchys I can. I am currently doing several on the m17x. Trying to get them done before I box it and return it :)

But when the np9262 arrives, I will also do as many as I can and will post all the results.
